I saw Pokemon, YuGiOh, and Dijimon as a kid but i didn't know they were from Japan.

In 2009 a good friend friend of mine who I hadn't spoken to in years told me to watch Code Geass. I was skeptical at first because I thought these Japanese shows were for losers. well I promised her I would watched it and I did. After that I fell in love with anime and here I'am five years later.

My anime addiction began in the late 90's! Unsure which series I watched first... most likely Pokemon since Kid's WB was my favorite channel. I remember having to switch back and forth between that and Fox Kids. I had to watch Megaman, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Cardcaptors OH THAT WAS THE LIFE. Best Saturday mornings ever! I wonder if I could replicate that childish joy I felt. It was tradition for my siblings and I to get up 7 am to catch the shows.

I'd like to be that eager again to wake up so early!

Matzinger Z, in the late 1970s. It was too far back for me to remember more.

Pokemon was the first back when I was a kid, though back then I didn't even know what anime was or that the show came from Japan.

Sailor Moon was the first anime that I watched. It came on Toonami in the afternoon and I would rush home from school just to see it.

Since I also had to look after my younger brother at this time, he had to watch it with me

The first I can really remember is Nausicaa along with whatever imports and bootlegs I could get from the local video store and the bastardized saturday morning stuff like Voltron and Robotech.

On lunch breaks from elementary school (I think grade one, maaaybe two) I used to watch Sailor Moon and Speed Racer. Though I really have to say that YTV's run of Gundam Wing a few years later, as well as my step-father's Star Blazers VHS collection are what got me hooked; to this day I prefer sci-fi anime as I feel it lends well to the animation style.
