What is going on?

Is Crunchyroll suffering server outages, or is this an internet problem, because spending the first few hours of my day trying to troubleshoot things I am not in control of posses me off.

Am I connecting to Crunchyroll wrong somehow?

Has something changed recently?

It seems all these problems started in the last month, and I haven't change anything about how I use the service.

There are quite a few possibilities.

I'd say the most likely culprits are:

1) It is Saturday, and quite a few of the big shows air on Saturday. So CR is being overloaded with all the traffic.

2) Those recent DDoS attacks have made their way to targeting CR. Which would probably explain the Store disappearing, the site being slow or not even loading, among other things.

After that... well it is all on your end, could be your internet, could be your browser, could be an number of things.

It usually runs fine for me, but there are times of the day (or night) when it starts chugging like crazy, if it works at all. I've learned to avoid watching stuff at those times, and I'm usually pretty well off. Those "outages" tend to last around 30 minutes to an hour, after which I can watch anything just fine again. I'm assuming it's a traffic thing myself.

I've seen reports of things going all to pieces on a Saturday pretty consistently round the time SAO2 airs. As Stonewolfe said, some major shows (including this and Sailor moon on alternating weeks) air over the weekend.

If you add together that these are some of the most anticipated shows that people want to watch the moment they come out with it being the weekend when people have more time to watch anything, it is to be expected that the site is a tad less responsive at these times.
Not ideal, obviously, but expected. Especially when there are such heavyweight shows dropping during key viewing periods.

I'm seriously getting annoyed. I used to actually recommend CR to people but now I'm telling them to stay away. Hubby only gets to really sit down and marathon the weekend stuff during the weekend. I gave up on the PS3 ap completely since their answer to everything is "check your connection. Now the problems have progressed to computer AND Laptop on wired networks. This didn't happen until they were bought out. Seriously folks. BUY MORE SERVERS FOR BANDWIDTH. Why offer more options to stream if you can't keep up with the demand? Seriously, why pay for a yearly subscription when I can't watch it when it comes out? This never happened before and I used to postpone watching until the weekend when I could marathon it at once. NOW I have to avoid the weekend because CR is being cheap with bandwidth? WTF.

I am watching Aldnoah Zero right now and I must have stopped to buffered no less than 10 times already. Seeing as the problem is not only with me, I doubt I will br renewing my subscription this year.

CR has been claiming they are expanding their CDN options...for more than a year now. They plain don't have the horsepower to support their userbase and yet still charge a premium for viewing access...then say it's probably a connection error on our end. It's not your imagination, the site support is steadily getting worse. It used to be just the videos would have hiccups. Now it's the whole freaking site, on a regular basis.
