Supporting the industry,
Anime can be removed from legal sites at anytime
I can't stand anything lower then 720p (unless it's an old anime )
Extras
It's mine and I can do what I want with it.
Some times I just don't want to be on my computer so I watch it on my T.V

This is probably going to sound dumb, but part of me wants a physical anime collection, but the other part of me is thinking "What's the point in spending all that money if you can just stream most of it?". Does anyone else think like this? I'm imagining that I'm just looking to be convinced to start buying Blu Ray box sets, because it seems alluring for some unknown reason.

i love collecting the stuff i love on disc. I can lend it out to a trusted friend or relative that i know will take care of, and not steal it and let them watch cause they don't stream like i do.

But i also like have the feeling of owning it and lets say my internet goes down for some unexpected reason i will have anime to watch.

if by some chance which it has happened a couple times a friend wants to watch anime with me I'm not getting on my CR account

I stopped... I had over 500 or so DVDs and 95% were anime...

Since I can stream them I don't have to spend money on DVDs and Blu-rays....Most of the shows were good but once you've seen most of them you don't need to see them again.

I sold a bunch of my DVDs....

I still kept the ones I thought were worth watching again.

- First and foremost, I like knowing that I'm doing my part to support the industry that I love. The insane workload that comes along with producing and releasing a single episode blows my mind. The industry busts it's ass for my enjoyment and it feels good to give them something in return.

- Secondly, I love staring at my anime/manga wall and being able to say "That's all mine!" lol.

- And last, but not least, I love the thrill of the hunt and tracking down recent oop titles as well as ones from my childhood. For example: I just found a couple Urusei Yatsura OVA/Movie DVDs at my latest convention for dirt cheap

I don't have a large collection of anime dvds/blu-rays, but do I buy some from time to time. To me, it's just my way of showing my support and interest in a series I really like.

I re-watch anime all the time. I guess the level of devotion going from fan to otaku is much higher. I forget how many times I have seen children who chase lost voices. I get more from it each time I watch it.

Generally speaking, it's to either A: Have an edition of a show I REALLY enjoyed available physically so I don't need to rely on a 'net collection to watch it, B: Have the show in higher-quality [picture quality and also any touch-ups produced for the home release], or C: I like the show and want more like it to get made.

Since anime's pretty niche and studios don't want to release bomb after bomb, voting with my wallet helps ensure things I like get made. Simple as that. c: ie: David Production animating part 4 of JoJo if parts 1-3 perform well. I like JoJo, I want more shows like it, so buying the BDs is good for me [now I can watch the show anytime, anywhere], good for Araki and David Production, and a good investment into shows I enjoy being aired in the future.

Of course, it's tough, since I collect video games and such, but it's an investment worth making if I genuinely enjoy the series. Ah, and getting limited edition items with some sets is also a nice bonus.

I pay for Crunchyroll but I also watch free streaming (yeah the illegal type).

Anyway for me, I only ever buy DVDs for old anime series that I would totally re-watch e.g. Fruits Basket (which I literally got this year).
Here are some reasons why:
- To keep for memories
- Share with relatives, friends or the newer generation who are looking for anime to watch and you what to recommend or share the classics
- Some old shows are hard to find on-line, I constantly get 'this video has been removed', 'video is not working', 'error', 'not available to stream in your region' (looking at you Funimation)
- HD Quality! I hate watching anime in poor quality, can't stand it...
- Extras, gifts, cover art and some collections when put together match to make a logo, word etc...
- Watch where ever especially with no access to the internet.
- It's yours and it just feels good to own it

I would normally buy current anime series if its a seasonal anime with the only chance to get a 2nd season if DVDs sales are good, so in that sense, to support the company - otherwise I'll wait a few months/years before I buy the DVD, for prices to go down e.g. Attack on Titan.

LOL I swear i'm hoping to collect the Naruto series one day, don't ask me why cuz I don't know and I have no idea where I would put it lol.

Yeah that's how my mind works.

I like having them in physical form, because I could actually touch them, and it makes me feel like I actually own them.

I buy anime to support anime in America. Sentai, Funimation, Aniplex (even with there prices), and whoever else. Even with watching anime on Crunchyroll some anime are worth buying the DVD (Blu Ray for my liking). When I watch a streamed anime I don't like I probably won't buy it, but there is not that many anime out there I dislike so I do purchase a lot lol. Plus I love my collection :3

EDIT: Dreadedfate007 mentioned this and I agree.

Boxsets, cover art, reversible covers, art books, and all extras that come with DVD/Blu Rays. Another reason why I buy

I don't collect the DVDs, but I (actually my parents) do already pay for watching it online, so.
