I've always liked Ken Sanada from Dual Parallel Trouble Adventures.

He's unusual because he's two dads in one. The original earth he's father to Mitsuki Sanada (who we spoils) and is a mad scientist missing his wife who left him. On the parallel earth he's not a father to anyone at all, but he becomes a surrogate dad to the three main characters, and he's like a well-adjusted Gendo Ikari.

Quite glad someone thought to put Shiro and Isshin in, I would say Ryukin Ishida and Minato Uzumaki as well.

I also felt like Tatsuo Saeki from Gingitsune was a great father and a pretty good role model.

I thought of him too when I saw the topic. I liked Gingitsune a lot, quite a good slice of life story.

I guess I could add Kotetsu from Tiger & Bunny. He's a pretty good father and struggles with having less time with his daughter than he'd like due to his hero duties. I suppose he can even be a "team dad" of sorts for all of the heroes sometimes. His role as a father is definitely significant in the story anyway.

The dad in Baby Steps is pretty cool. He believes in his kid and is willing to give him a chance to chase his dream.

Gotta respect that.

Probably the most noteworthy father in anime history. not in a good way...

As much as a despise and hate that man, I feel that I have to agree.
Thinkign about it FMA had several VERY important father figures.
Hughes, Hohenheim, and well Father, though for very different reasons.

I've only seen like 6 episodes of Bleach, but Ichigo's dad has to be one of my favorite dads. Just beats the shit out of his son and teases him all the time .

And then not a noteworthy/important dad but a personal favorite of mine is Manami's grandpa (grandpa's are just deluxe dads, yeah?) from Oreimo.

Dude was just trying to hook up his granddaughter with the neighborhood kid the whole time, haha.

Some of the ones previously mentioned, totally agree with, have a few more to add,

Now, I couldn't find a picture of this one, but I think Alibaba's father from Magi, has to be rather important

Was sorta surprised didn't see this one mentioned yet, but one noteworthy father, who amazing is Minato from Naruto,

eeer... thinking on it, the characters i mentioned are dead, and if i try to think of any i know that are alive, i can't, because it usually a mom, or no parents in the story, but RIP these 2 awesome dads? lol

Mahou Sensei Negima: Negi Springfield's father, Nagi.

This particular scene was very heartwarming yet melancholy, due to Negi temporarily reuniting with the father he's sought for his entire life.

Norimaki Senbei. Though he created Arale (and told everyone she's his sister), he's pretty much her dad. Gets real children later on.
