What ages are people in American High School? From when to when? xD

I'm in my last year of the Sixth form, 18 in April... University is next, but I'm going to be teaching somewhere for a full year so yay.

18 is when most graduate unless you fall in the early birthday group, then you're seventeen.

I have a late birthday, so I fell into the "graduated at 18" group.

So most freshman are between 14-16, taking into account birthday and a failed grade. I think this is right. My memories of high school are pretty fuzzy as I've tried to forget them, seeing as I'm in college now, which is an infinitely more satisfying experience.

Sweet thanks :)

Had always wondered...

Makes sense following the 'elementary/middle/high/college' thing that seems to be the USA standard.
Our schools have Primary, Secondary, Further and Higher.

Primary is ages 4-5 until 11. Reception, then Year 1-6
Secondary is 11-16, so that incorporates the middle school aspect I guess. Year 7-11 is secondary, and you do GCSEs in years 10 and 11
Not sure how much that overlaps though, when does elementary school end in the US?

From there it's Further Education, which we call Sixth Form or College (confusing as it's different from college in the US from the sound of it), which is 16-18 and is when you do A Levels.

From there Higher is university etc.

Interesting to see the differences, and hear about them properly rather than just gleaning information xD

Elementary ends at fifth for most(mine was weird, we started middle in seventh instead). Middle is sixth through eighth, and highschool is ninth through twelfth.

Some schools even have upper and lower levels. One middle school I went to had an upper level and a lower level. Think it was basically just elementary and high, but I dunno.
