It's really not a question when life begins, but more of a where does human life begin.

So when does human life begin?

Life starts in my opinion when the first brain waves are detected. And well I would say that more precisely that life starts at the moment when the being is aware of its surrounding, or is starting to percept it. And also in that moment where it is able to feel pain. Pain means that you are aware of your body and its pain.

Some people see a zygote as a potential life, and think that it is murder when it gets aborted. In my opinion this is just pathetic nonsense. I wouldn't shed a tear over a dead skin cell, or a dead sperm cell. I don't see zygotes as lifes, thought they surely have the potential to become a human being. But they actually don't really perceive the surroundings. I would say that they are basically half-dead, or maybe I should say brain dead. Since their nerve perceptions are very low, and are only filling out the basic needs, instincts, thus they are not really beings with personalities. They don't have special personal characteristics...so in my eyes they don't count as lifes.

Flo~

To me, life begins at the moment of self awareness and conciousness. This takes place awhile after conception and birth but this is truly where i think life begins. For one, many people canno't remember anything from their early childhood. Its not to say they weren't living until then but they weren't aware that they were alive. (Its possible they could have been and just forgotten but for ad hoc purposes of discussion, im just going to assume this). Anyways at the point where they are aware of themselves and other people, they can comprehend more than just the basics of life and from there is where all the major evolution both physical and mental occur in one's life.

Some people are starting to catch on to the life vs existance argument. Good, this is what I was hoping for At what point does the difference between existance (eg, a foetus in the womb, with the heart beating but unable to do anything) and life (actions, responses, emotion) become apparent? Do you think babies live or just exist before birth?

Well the whole creation vs evolution topic has been mostly proven that it is creation. But to explain: In Evolution: scientists say that they had found the missing link named Lucy, however the bones of this "person" were found over a 25 mile seperation and it is still only 25% complete. Furthermore, supposedly they found a skeleton of a figure that was hunched over and walked with its fist but had human features..... however it wasl ater found that thuis was just an old man with back arthrites. On the topic of creation, there is no real proof besides the man who spent 50 years of his life trying to prove stuff in the bible wrong, however in the end, he ended up converting to christianity because he could not prove anything wrong....

Life begains at conception. From that point it matures, is born, matures some more, grows old and dies.

When does life Begin? I think if anyone wants to answer that question they should consider the things around them. Take a look at the things around you. What do you think is alive? And what do all these things have in common? Everything that grows, that depends on something to continue its existence, and that needs nourishment is a living being. So, to answer the question life begins at the moment of existence.

Life begins when the ovum meets the sperm and becomes a zygote. The sperm pierces the ovum thereby activating it the machinery lying dormant in the egg cell's cytoplasm kicks into gear and starts thereby beginning a long process of cellular development and differentiation. This peaks at adolescence and thereafter the body goes into senescence, or in other words, it starts to age. That is biologically speaking.

To say life begins with self awareness and perception is a philosophical statement and can come under discussion. If this is true then someone with various cognitive and sensory disorders aren't alive?
