Natto is one of the worst things I have ever tried. Ever. The taste isn't so bad; what really disgusts me is the texture of it. Slimy, gooey and rather sticky. Absolutely disgusting, it is like eating mucus with a lot of boogers mixed in.

This just heightens my sense of revulsion.

Take a big pile and swallow it. You'll never eat again.

Stahp. It's killing me.

Gross well definitely not trying it now. I'm not a picky eater but if the texture is weird I can't do it :c

Did you try it straight out of the package, or did you try to enjoy it over rice with a few toppings? I ask because I am not a picky eater either. There are a few things that I really cannot bring myself to try things like kiviak or balut, but I am open to items that do not require me to eat preformed bones and rotting meat.

I will add that natto really has an interesting flavor. I don't dislike it, but I don't especially like it either. I don't mind eating it, but I also don't have cravings for it. I am still working out the kinks in the way I serve it to make it more desirable. I really don't mind the flavors in natto. What I have been having a problem with is how those flavors mix with a raw egg and soy sauce, among other things. At this point, I would argue that natto is okay, but could be significantly improved if served properly.

I've eaten it fresh, and packaged. Both horrible. The consistency makes me want to vomit. Nothing makes this better, nothing.

The closest I've come are some strange types of miso.... so, nope, never had it... I do like soybeans and soybean sprouts... I might have to give it a try. I understand that natto has a lot of good health benefits...

I read a survey that out of the almost 30% of Japanese that do not like natto about half of them eat it because of the health benefits...

It doesn't taste bad. The smell isn't nearly as bad as durian. It's just the texture.......the texture is really unbearable

I will never eat that Eastern Japanese junk! It doesn't have a bad taste or anything, but the gooey, slimy texture is horrid.

I had natto with rice before.

It was pretty interesting.

I'd try it again.

Durians, however.......
those are legitimately bad. Tried one and won't ever try it again.

I'd go for it, if given the chance, though I'm more interested in using natto to make something else. With a few alterations and added ingredients, I want to make cheonggukjang with natto.
