I was at home getting ready for school, then I went to school. I remember it quite well, because while my friend and I were waiting for our teacher to open the classroom we were talking about how cool the crashing airplanes were on the news. Our teacher chewed us out. The reality of it wasn't very real in 4th grade.....or I was just a lil' shit back then.

5th grade...I was at school in a NYC suburb. They ushered us into the cafeteria earlier than usual to eventually talk about it in front of the entire school, but then my parents picked me and my brother up around 10:30-11A or so before they announced what happened.

My father was lucky, he was working at a law firm right near the trade centers at the time and missed the subway going under the towers right before the first crash. After he figured out what happened, he simply went home.

I was a naive and spacey little child back then and barely understood the gravity of what just happened even when I was watching it on TV afterward. I didn't even realize what was going on when they took us into the cafeteria, but my brother did, and apparently he was freaking out that whole morning given where my father worked...ignorance is seriously bliss in some ways :v.

In school, taking a math test. I remember it very well. Very well. We were interrupted in the middle of the test, and told there was no test that day. Then the teacher put on the TV and I thought to myself that this couldn't be happening.

I remember not really taking in what I was seeing; it seemed bizarre to me, a strange confusion overwhelmed me. Then I saw first hand the second plane crash live. Then the buildings tumbled down, taking all those people who didn't know they were going to die that day.

We all cried. Black, white, yellow, brown...Didn't matter. We all cried together. We cried for our people, our country.

It only really sunk in...The magnitude of what had happened sunk in in the following weeks. Disbelief, shock, unhappiness, tragedy and bitterness.

Sad day, sad day. May those innocents who suffered rest in eternal peace.

I must have been in 1st grade at the time since I was 6.

All I remember is kids being rushed out of school by concerned parents, including myself (We actually lived somewhat close to NYC). When I got home, I remember my mom crying at the T.V. and not knowing why.

I was in 5th grade and heard the news only when I went home for lunch. I watched the news with my dad and I was scared. When I came back to school, all the kids were talking about it in the school yard. We talked about it with our teacher too and we did a moment of silence for all the victims.

I can't imagine how terrible that moment was for all the people living in or close to NYC (or has family there)...
