I've been using CC for 2 weeks now and it has worked great but during some hours I get lousy buffering from just cc not from other streaming sites despite having 100/100 mbit. Also I think they should improve the video player to show how much of the content has been done streaming, at the moment there is only a orange bar which shows nothing so for someone with a bad internet connection it's hard to judge how fast it will stream.

I have issues from time to time but for the most part they seem to have gone away. It sucks but I just deal with it. Your suggestion has been made like 100 times already so while I would normally say to make it in the suggestions section I don't really see a point in it. I do agree and wish there was a way to see how much was buffered or to have the whole episode load before beginning it.

There's no point in showing how much the video has buffered, because Crunchyroll deliberately restricts how much the video is able to buffer as a form of DRM. Because let's not try to mitigate the issues our technological incompetence is causing our users because EVIL DIGITAL PIRACY!

I've always wondered why their video player sucked compared to the competition's. If their intention is to reduce piracy, then they are doing a pretty bad job at it lol.

I can usually stream at up to 480p smoothly on CR (on a 1 gigabit fiber optic line... lol) which is generally good enough for anime in my opinion. My biggest pet peeve is when the CR player glitches and decides the episode is over at random. Was one of the reasons I upgraded to premium. Nothing so irritating as sitting through commercials, getting two minutes in -Whoops! Episode's over!- restarting and having to sit through the commercials all over again.

Doesn't seem to happen as often anymore, but it's still irritating to restart and try to find where the episode left off.

The big hitting anime this season, especially on Saturday, has crippled CR.

There's no point to it. Sure, they've managed to stop people from ripping the videos, but it isn't hard to find pirated anime episodes that are being made available for download. All it does is cause problems for us actual paying customers, like most forms of DRM.

The thing is, CR's video player is part of the core reasons why users come to this site. They can acquire all the anime in the world. But when your video player is waay outta date, your gonna lose customers to other legal sites such as animelabs, funimation, and netflix and many many more. You gotta remember that there is alot of websites to watch anime legally, but not alot of legal manga reading. But face it, that isn't gonna keep them afloat forever. If they don't get their video player to working awhole lot better, they will lose money, meaning losing cash, meaning potential bankruptcy. It's simple business.

I have a top end computer with a fiber optic connection to the internet. Still, 1080p streaming is crap. What is the point of even adding it, other than as a selling point? False advertising.

Crunchyroll has an absolutely crappy player. It's so bad I wouldn't blame anyone if they don't even watch the free episodes hosted on cr. Even the premium users bookmark other sites as backup when cr doesn't work. I've been on this site since forever and the only noticeable difference was that they changed the layout from green to white, and made a fancy logo. The player that cr had in it's piracy days worked much better, sorry to say

When I had buffering issues with 1080p I just switched to 720p and things have been great ever since. Can't even tell the difference, and my screen is a 27" 2500x2000.

I'm having issues watching stuff at 1080p and 720p recently It wasn't like this before. I have a 150 Mbps and a high end gaming machine to run these vids so I know it's not something on my end.
