Hello and thank you for taking the time and effort to check out this post. I hope you are having a rather good day today.
You may call me Lox or Aureus if you'll like. Gold works too since Aureus is a Latin word for an gold coin.

I've been using Crunchyroll for a few months now and so far I'm really liking it. I never had this problem before into one week ago. Whenever I'm in the middle of watching a video it will randomly freeze. When this happens I'm unable to make the video play and force to refresh the page in order for it to start working again. For example I'm two minutes in watching a video that's about to get to a really great part and boom! It freezes and I'm force to reload the page to be able to watch it.
This happens occasionally whenever I'm watching a video, It will happen at least five to ten times. I've tired to fix this many of times. Clearing cookies, deleting history etc. I'm not sure what else I can do so I'll love to have help with this problem if anyone can.

Thanks and have a great day.

If you are viewing using the web browser, try moving the slider back just a very small amount, and wait for the video to restart (it may take 20 seconds or so). I've found that at least for me, that restarts the video 90% of the time. I've also used that trick to resolve issues with the video pausing and then restarting, with a similar success rate.

Your experience may vary, depending on factors such as your web browser and the performance of all the points between you and the CDN server.

I tried getting a permanent fix to this and what I got from CR was a whole list of steps to take for altering several settings for my browser. I thought it was just too much and as a paying customer (at the time) I just couldn't understand why I had to do this and why CR just doesn't update their video player. Anyway, that's digressing a bit.

When that happens to me I just hit the refresh button on my browser. It resets everything but where the video left off is saved and it starts right up again. It's different for me from what the AncientOne recommended. When I click to just go back a few seconds the video takes longer to load than if I were to just refresh and sometimes it won't restart at all and I have to refresh anyways.

I really hope that CR will update or replace the player completely one of these days. I know that the problem isn't my browser, my computer, nor my internet connection. Players on youtube, funimation, netlifx, hulu, anime network, daisuki.net, and so on I've never had a problem with.

It's sort of nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem. I also notice it doesn't affect Youtube or any of those other sites as well. This is a little upsetting having to know there is nothing I can do and having to refresh the page over 20 times just to finish one episode but so be it... For the sake of anime!...

I also tired the wise wizard's advice. It doesn't work, only way to fix this is to refresh the page.
I'll still like to fix this problem though....

As I noted, "Your experience may vary". It works for me, but I didn't assume it would work for everyone.

I assume you've already tried the standard advice of changing your DNS, with no positive results.

Do you have similar issues if you view using a device (game console, Roku, iOS device, etc.)? Those use a different CDN than the website Flash streams, and often if one works the other has no problem.

Frankly, I'm curious if the Plex server app can be used for viewing content locally, instead of streaming it to another PC. The current version of the CR plug-in for it uses the HLS (device) streams, and if local viewing with it were possible, it could be a workaround for people that have issues for CR's website streams but no problems with the device streams.
