Yup, there are still quite a few absolute monarchies left in the world. Oman and the United Arab Emirates along with Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, Brunei in Southeast Asia, and Swaziland in Southern Africa are also absolute monarchies. Lichtenstein just expanded the powers of their monarchs which goes against the normal trend.

I just voted for the (Government and municipal election) first time in my life a few hours ago!

Have you ever voted? How was the first time you voted and how did it feel?

I must say, I felt a bit old when I got the chance to vote for the first time.

Unless your participating in small local elections here in the USA voting is a waste of time, due to our electoral voting system. And even those can be easily "bought out" by wealthy interests.

As for Sweden, I read that their right wing political party, similar to our tea party, has gained significant strength in their government. Which is interesting in the global aspect because Sweden and Finland have been drawing closer to the EU and NATO, with Russia and the West disputing over Ukraine. However, the rise in the of these right wing parties through out Sweden and much of Europe, have support for Russia while presenting STRONG anti NATO and anti EU rhetoric.

I believe voting should be either made an official holiday or compulsory. Here in the US we only get a 40% voter turn out which disappointing knowing that if the majority of Americans vote we will completely wipe out the right wing nut jobs easily. Still, the people who don't vote can't bitch about it when the government does something that they don't agree with.

The Swedish government will be weaker then ever before in the coming 4 years. They're already talking about a potential reelection because of this. There's a nazi party and a rightist party got into the government... And unfortunately they have the power to downvote things that the other parties bring up. And if the government can't agree whit things that they're suppose to do then there might be a reelection.

Socialdemokraterna won the election whit 30% of the votes. Socialdemokraterna was the party that made Sweden a part of the EU to begin whit So I'm not sure if I agree whit you on that we may be more like Russia thing.

There's a possibility that it will get better if you vote for the right party. Just don't complain about things when you aren't voting (like you are here).

And what if i think none of the partys will help? there is not a big idea to vote for a party with 1% support...

( and things was a little complicated that was also a reason i did not vote )

I have voted in every election I was allowed to vote in since I turned 18.

I have voted in local municipal elections, school board elections, statewide, countywide, nationwide elections. They all matter. I have voted for winners, I have voted for losers. I have voted for one of the two primary parties, but also have voted third party. I have regretted very few of my votes - but I would have regretted it more if I didn't vote at all.
