Drug culture
Posted 9/14/14 , edited 9/14/14
Since grammar school, probably 90% of the kids I've known have been doing something. 7th grade it was drinking, early high school was marijuana, middle of high school was heavier drugs. Now I'm in college and pretty much everyone is snorting, shooting, drinking, popping, ingesting, or smoking something. There was even a meth lab on the campus at one point.

I really dislike drugs. I'm sorry. I really do. I understand the current "hip" thing to do is be for the legalization of this and that, but I just can't get behind it. I hate drinking too. It's just self destructive at the levels I've seen it at. I've painted myself as a sort of pariah to some people because I won't for the life of me partake in either of them, because it's just plain stupid.

I see it all the time. "Wake up drunk, go to sleep f*cked up" or "YOLO" or some other asinine statement to make liver and brain damage permissible. If you partake in it, great for you, but don't force me. Goes both ways too.

Drug culture isn't something new, it's never really gone out of style.

What are your thoughts on this?

That's hardcore! In my city in Southern California the most hardcore drug that I know of people able to get was cocaine because a friend of mine was doing it for awhile and went broke because according to him it was way expensive, Marijuana is no big deal anyone can get it. As for other hardcore drugs I know its out there but I haven't met people who use it or sell it.

As to answer your question on the matter I think the more intense drugs are no no I wouldn't try it as for Marijuana I have done it and it's no big deal to me but I know there is people who would say otherwise.

LET THEM ROT AWAY IN THEIR OWN SAD WAYS IF THEY WONT LISTEN TO YOU WHEN YOU TELL THEM TO STOP

DRUG CULTURE IS JUST A BUNCH OF LOSERS THAT ARE FULLY AWARE THAT THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LOSERS

Being straight edge my argument is rather biased.
I don't see why damaging your body and mind is 'fun' or 'cool'. I have had people try to make me drink or smoke or whatever with them and I find it highly offensive that they try to get me to participate in it even though they know I'm against it. I guess people just want to completely destroy themselves whilst they're still young.
Basically I find it really stupid.

I agree fully. Could not write it better myself. It's rare finding people who think the same, so many people go for drugs. Even if it's just alcohol and not illegal drug usage where i live, it's still annoying because alot of people seem to connect that way so if you're a decent person who just don't want to drink alcohol, it's very easy to get left out.
Nevertheless as second post says, the snorting and so on sounds hardcore. I've never seen illegal drugs. But annoys me enough even with the legal ones.

The drug culture disgusts me.
My favorite uncle died a meth and alcohol addict. Seeing my mother cry in the corner of the living room for more than ten hours devastated me. When I found out my cousin was doing drugs I wanted to slap him! He saw how we cried over my uncle but he didn't care. He decided to smoke weed because it made him look cool.
I hate the drug dealers who sell drugs to middle school kids and ruin their lives. I hate the parents who don't give a damn that their kids are doing drugs.

I wouldn't take drugs myself and I'm not really a big fan of them since they only really create "false" feelings and I don't see the point in that.

That said, I think legalisation would have some advantages. People who die from drug use often do so because of "cut" drugs, bad batches or overdoses and that would be easier to avoid with a legal drug since certain health standards could be enforced against "legitimate" sellers. The sales could also be taxed and that money could be put into public services (and cover the costs of drug use that are already generated with illegal use anyway). It would also be easier for people to get treatment for drug use since they wouldn't be admitting to a crime when they do so.

I think the biggest problem is the addictive qualities of many drugs, I wouldn't want to encourage businesses to take advantage of people by making them addicts (some are bad enough already). I'm not sure there's a realistic way of overcoming that, plus any law would have to be strict enough to make drugs relatively safe while still discouraging illegal options and that would be a tough balancing act.

I'd like to think that illegal drug use would fade away as society advances, as people get smarter and have more fulfilling lives they'd be much less likely to take drugs. I don't think things are so bad just now and at worst society is going to collapse and we'll all end up dead (or living as animals) anyway so it won't be worth worrying about at that point. I do think that most people who take drugs either know they're being stupid or are so stupid that their stupidity is the larger issue. I suppose it's similar for people who drink too heavily, they need to be educated so that they are able to make more sensible decisions on these matters (which often requires some significant effort on their part too).

I've been surrounded by drugs for pretty much all my life. I've never touched them though and I don't ever plan on it. Creating false feelings in your body just seems so silly to me, and they're mostly unhealthy, expensive, and for the most part illegal.

Most of my family has done some illegal drug. It's definitely caused a lot of problems for my family, and I've definitely been affected by my family's choices. Anybody who's been around the shit for a long time and is intelligent would tell you to stay away.

Now for marijuana, I personally don't find that drug to be a big deal. If someone ever decides to try it, just know that you are most likely breaking the law and regardless of whether it truly is a good or bad drug, it's still illegal so don't be a bitch about it if you get caught.

I don't see the point in drugs and drinking. Even if it makes you happy now, it's going to fuck up your life later. I wouldn't want to end up being dependent on some drug to keep myself going.

I'm going through the same process. Except a friend of mine whom I pretty much grew up with has gotten into some bad stuff. I haven't seen him around in a few years now. A friend who knows him tells me he lives on the street and he's shooting up heroine. It's a real shame. I despise drugs, as well.
