Pot helps me sleep after I finish stressing over all my AP classes. I don't even know why I try so hard in school anymore but I do and I'm still a lot more successful than those who aren't willing to try any drugs and instead waste away their youth as social recluses watching anime.
I was never peer pressured into trying anything, in fact living a "normal" life drove me to try new things because following the rules dictated by society is SO FUCKING BORING. It's a crutch for excitement but if I can be successful in the future I would rather find alternatives that will make life interesting. Unlike certain people, I don't flaunt what I do so I appear to be an upstanding citizens to others.

Everything is good in moderation. The bad thing is, addiction can develop. Addiction to anything is bad.

I don't mind drugs or partying too bad, its the stupid people I hate. People that try to push it on you, or act stupid just because they drank a beer and smoked a joint. Pot is nothing to me, only thing bad about it is its illegality, and for some, the smell I guess (Also I guess the act of inhaling smoke itself is damaging but meh)

The worst drugs are the 'legal' ones imo. Doctors prescribe adderal, an amphetamine, which is pretty much legal meth, like its candy because 'Johny just won't pay attention in class'. I probably have an opiate addiction just from being on several prescriptions due to injuries. Society rears people to pop another pill to not feel pain, alter your mental state, mess with your hormones, and you wonder why some might turn to some *GASP* illegal drugs?

See: Prison System by System of a Down. Pretty much how I feel about it.

My best friend from back when I was in first or second grade all the way through my early twenties fell into drugs. Calling him a best friend doesn't really do it justice. We both came from shitty homes and I loved him like a brother. I can't really think of how to explain the disappointment, helplessness and anger I felt while watching him slowly destroy himself and any potential he'd had in life with addiction.

It started with tobacco in junior high, then for a few years it was only marijuana, then eventually he started dabbling with coke, and I still remember trying to calm him when he was terrified after first trying heroine. I'd hoped that experience might have helped steer him away from the harder drugs.. it didn't.

These days I've no idea where he even is, beyond what state I know he was living in when I lost contact, and for all I know he's long dead of an overdose. Or maybe he's finally cleaned himself up and is living happily somewhere. Perhaps in the end I'm a crappy brother or friend, but eventually I had to give up.

For some it has nothing to do with "fun" or "cool".
It's merely a way to experience and view things in ways you would not be able to without a particular substance.
To be able to develop as a person experimenting with drugs is necessary - I'm not condoning substance abuse at all but if it is used recreationally, benefits will arise from trying them occasionally.

Yes, we have a brain, but do we have full control over it? We have no idea what goes on most of the time. Certain drugs like psychedelics help you to understand your thought processes better, and you basically take a trip in your own mind. Whether it be positive or negative, there is no doubt something to learn about the world or yourself through drugs.

If you only do it because everyone else is doing it, you're a fool.
Try things occasionally and use it to develop and become a better, more intellectual, being.

ive been on heavy duty mind altering drugs since i was a teen. nasty sh!t perscreibed by doctors. made me fat, made me dumb. made me drool. gave me ED at 17. took away parts of my personalitty. made me sit and stare at the damn wall for hours. gave me the runs and consitpation. once time i crapped my pants cus of the damn meds. damn meds made me tired all the damn time. alway fun getting your blood check every month to see if you liver and kidneys are going to fail. oh yeah, and lets not forget the damn voices i got from too much seriquil, or the chest pains, or the 'crap in your pants' scarry visual halucinations. nothing like hearing creepy whispers just as you fall asleep.
and the chest pains. i woke up crying alot for a few hours at night cus it hurt so bad.

for this reason i hate any drugs. meds, weed, anything that messes with your mind. they gave me xanax at one time, and i refused it even tho i needed. damn stuff made my high, and it might have been fun 15 year ago. now it just hated being out of control due to some chemical.

i just hate drugs. even the kind that make me feel better. its always a double edged sword.

oh, and lest not forget the ambien. popped 40mg. screwed with me and i had a hard time walking. and talking. or even thinking. and gave me a killer headache. but i never fell asleep. put you to sleep my ass.

Since grammar school, probably 90% of the kids I've known have been doing something. 7th grade it was drinking, early high school was marijuana, middle of high school was heavier drugs. Now I'm in college and pretty much everyone is snorting, shooting, drinking, popping, ingesting, or smoking something. There was even a meth lab on the campus at one point.

I really dislike drugs. I'm sorry. I really do. I understand the current "hip" thing to do is be for the legalization of this and that, but I just can't get behind it. I hate drinking too. It's just self destructive at the levels I've seen it at. I've painted myself as a sort of pariah to some people because I won't for the life of me partake in either of them, because it's just plain stupid.

I see it all the time. "Wake up drunk, go to sleep f*cked up" or "YOLO" or some other asinine statement to make liver and brain damage permissible. If you partake in it, great for you, but don't force me. Goes both ways too.

Drug culture isn't something new, it's never really gone out of style.

What are your thoughts on this?

I agree with you 100%, and it was exactly the same way in my schools. I grew up around drug users, and I have seen what that does to people.

Most people who think like that haven't tried any of the stuff even once.

I used to think like that before I tried it. Now, I can understand why some people enjoy using it.

Addiction is possible with anything and bad with everything. It's not a unique threat from only substance abuse. Now, I support responsible use of substances. Having a moderate dose now and then won't kill you. Stress while sober is damaging in its own right. Neither constant drug use nor constant stress are "healthy" so why go with the less enjoyable option?

If you do drugs because everyone else is doing it, you're just dumb. If you enjoy them, keep your priorities in mind and don't abuse them.

Generally people who do drugs that are terrible are terrible to begin with anyway. I've never understood how things go so bad for some people who do drugs. Like, stealing shit, sexual assault, going broke, dying at raves, eating peoples faces.....like what the hell?! Maybe I'm just a super/awesome/fun/beautiful/amazing dude who doesn't have an addictive personality, cuz I really don't understand what some people do because of drugs.

To answer OP's question: I think drug culture is super lame.

I was always around people who drink a lot or smoke a lot whenever they want to. I lost some family members to doing drugs. I made friends with people who smoke and drink, not once did they ask me if I wanted to try it. That was all in the past though. My current friend drinks but all the time. Drug culture doesn't even bother me. It's just one of those things that just happen all the time.

The only drugs I take are prescribed to me by my psychiatrist.

It's fine I suppose to experiment with things like alcohol and marijuana. But anything passed that like snorting/shooting/popping just stay away. AND NOTICE I said EXPERIMENT, like a 1 time thing. Having a drink or 2 on time off is fine as well but getting shit faced every day isn't good. Both my parents went a little overboard on drinking at different times in their lives.

For Me Marijuana; known as the (四百二十燃やせ) or weed its really not very potent if your not behind the wheel. Its very impossible to over dose on weed and there is not death statistic on weed. we've known three states in America legalized weed for recreational use. and most of the states except Utah, Arizona and South Carolina made it legal for medical use. I honestly did weed once, to tell you the truth, but i didn't get hooked to it. The good thing i get out form it is, it gives me open minded ideas of any manga/anime fan art i can do. Any other drugs I'm very against it. The reason why weed is illegal, because of racist and religious zealot activist, the government is very stupid to weather to tax it because its a recreational drug like alcohol or not to tax it because it can be used for medical use, and that's why the federal government made it illegal.

i used to smoke cigs when i was 15-17. (quit 2 years ago when i was 17). I used to drink a bit too.

Most of my friends where pretty into drugs and stuff, however i wasn't. The most i did back then was toke up with some kush every now and then. however i have been SxE since then lol.

I think drugs destroy your brain and sense of person.
