Post Reply Is there a family member you don't love but also don't hate as well?

My relationship with my parents gets better as I get older.

When I lost my father in spite of myself it broke me up; the closed casket and all the people that didn't even know him (it was like a circus-they just came like its a social event), and fire, it was such an awful way to go. No matter how I hated him, I wept and mourned without understanding why I was. It might have been because I was of a few there at that funeral who knew him, knew his troubles, his failures. It overcame me, the overwhelming mix of emotion, the anger, the pity, the shame, and just overall grief.

Probably most of the family members in my step families. I don't spend a lot of time with them, so they're kinda distant from me. A few of them don't really like me, either. So I don't really... Care, about them, I guess?

Just because someone is related by blood, doesn't make them family.

I don't really hate any of my own family members. I hate the family members of people I know though.

My parents have their own way of doing things, as do I, so I can't "hate" them when we disagree on certain matters.

Interesting comment. How do you define the word family?

I guess all the extended family members I've never met. Everyone lives too far away lol.

Bonus Questions:

1) Not necessarily.

2) Decently enough? I can talk to my mom about things on occasion.

3) Nope.

Really big. Some people in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia,Texas, most of them in Ghana and maybe Great Britain. I don't know why Africans are so into having huge families ahaha.

1) I don't think I have a family member like that, but I do generally get along better with my sister than my parents

2) I get along with my mother well, but sometimes I hate my father because he never motivated me well to do anything (academics, sports etc.). It was more liike "Do this" and then he yelled at me when I did poorly. He is also hardly nice (except when I get good grades )
But I guess I am used to him.

3) I don't envy my friends' families, and when I think about that it just makes me appreciate my family more. Sometimes I wish I would have had a different father though...but he has helped shape who I am and I cannot deny that

Oh wow.

My family sucks because they aren't rich. They need to pay my tuition, buy me a car, and set me up with a trust fund.

Bonus question: Yes, I'm jealous of wealthy families.

My aunt. I don't love her like I would any other family member, yet I don't really hate her. She's just...there, I guess

1.) Definitely my dad. For some reason, I often find myself thinking of life without my father, and it just breaks me, even if it's just my imagination going crazy as usual. I can't live with out my daddy<3

2.) Pretty well. We share similar interests, but I always manage to set myself apart by being completely different from them, and arguing a lot

3.) Nope, not at all. I love my family. I wouldn't want many of my friends families. Many of their families have a lot of divorce issues, single parents, etc, etc, so no, I like my family very much
