Do you think heroes exist in real life? If so who are they and what makes them heroes?

Yes and they don't need code names or capes or have super powers. Those Men and Women who volunteer to fight for our country. To all them thank you. There are many heroes and heroines out there Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, a friend or neighbor, police, firemen, a random stranger. Someone that helps out, a kind gesture, makes a difference c:

Exactly. Although we do have those kind of heroes, too. Look up real life superheroes. They are cool people. They do homeless work, volunteer work and other community service stuff. I'm not too sure if they would leap buildings successfully, tho....

Of course, with balls of steel and the will to save lives. I would sure like to be like that firefighter in a video putting out a magnesium fire in a car and watching it explode with nerves of steel acting like nothing happened.

yep. heroes are people who offer a helping hand and go out of their way to do things ranging from helping someone cross the road to putting themselves in harm's way to save someone's life. everyone's got a little bit of hero in them.. kindness where it wasn't asked or expected.

Absolutely.

But they're not the cape wearing, flashy persons of movies, books or fantasy.

They're just the regular people of everyday, day in and day out who go unnoticed by the majority of everyone else. These heroes of the real world rarely get thanked, known, or honored. Often times they're completes ignored.

But they're there. They're there when they make lunch for you. Give you a spot on the train to sit when you're tired. Hold your hand when you feel most alone. They're the volunteers who feed the homeless, the people who stay up late just to make sure you get home safe. They're the people who clean the sidewalks, visit you in the hospital, send you a card when you're feeling down - donate their money, time, effort and good will. They walk by your side in your darkest moments, and they stand up for you when no one else will. In even the littlest things done to make your day better, easier - the most insignificant things that go unnoticed...They're there. They make you smile a bit broader, laugh a little longer. Give you a boost to go on.

That is where they are. That is where they've always been. That is where they always will be.

Having a sword does not make a hero.

There are no heroes. Only monsters.

Heck yes heroes exist. I agree with everyone the real ones don't have fancy costumes, gadgets, or weapons.
I watched this really cool documentary about Ryan Gosling called, "Drive." Apparently before acting, he was working as a stunt man and saved this mom and her kid from getting into some sketchy business because of the dad. Ryan Gosling really went above and beyond to protect these people, seems like a really cool guy!

A real human beeeaaann, and a real herooo.

Yes.

Everyday heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

No.

What you define as a 'hero' is just a normal human doing an act of kindness that really everyone should be doing.

I tried to find a certain quote about heroes, but couldn't, and am now deeply depressed. So I shall attempt to paraphrase.

It is a sad country that has heroes, but I pity the country that has need of one.
