Has the social aspect of CR died out?

Sounds like it's time to make new CR friends. Friends online are pretty fickle. It's nice to meet them, and talk to them, and just have a jolly ol' time. Buuuuut let's face it: you probably won't be talking to them in a few years or so. Unless you and them are both dedicated to CR.

But there are ton of active people here. Just join groups, search the forums. Add people, if you'd like to chat willingly with 'em. I know it might be hard letting go of your old buddies, but you should just accept it. And maybe let the thought that they most likely aren't dead comfort you.

The thing that's wrong with Crunchroll's social side is that it is almost completely apart from the entertainment side and can seem disconnected at times and alot of people are not interested because of that! Plus Crunchyroll is focusing on it's entertainment side more then it's social which starves it and separates them even more!

I don't understand why people make this thread every other month. (And i'm not aiming that at OP or anyone in particular, so don't take it personally).

But people left this site for 2-3 years, come back... none of their friends are here anymore, then proceed to make a thread talking about how CR has changed and how it isn't socially active anymore.

I mean, it's not rocket science. If you're gone for 2-3 years... do you expect others to be here all the time or the site to remain the same?... of course they'd need to leave at some point, they've found lives, jobs, families etc.

I agree with this completely. Well said.

I think some of it is that people are using the apps to watch their anime and ignoring the social aspect of the site (the app I was using for the Roku won't work so I find myself on the site a lot more lately). There are people who watch a ton of anime but have no idea of what is going on at Crunchyroll.

I don't want to see Phersu forums every single day, if you ask me.

As far as I know, this is something that happens to a lot of online communities. People grow up, get responsibilities and obligations, and at the same time, realize there's more in this world than just crunchyroll, or whatever online community you've been a part of.

Besides that, if the people behind a online community aren't focussing on the social aspect, and don't try to get in new, and young, people, it shouldn't be a surprise that the place changes or dies out.

I have to agree with your statement here. I mean why isn't there something like a chatbox? Or an interactive element to new airing episodes? Do it Twitch style! Make the first episode release of a series a streaming event with chatbox :). That would be fun!

Not going to bother reading that wall of text, so I'll just reply to the title of the thread.

Yes, is my answer.

I've been here for... I dunno, seven years now? But I never used the forums on the site until very recently, so I can't really say I have any bittersweet nostalgia for the social aspect of this place. What I can say is that I've felt that on other websites around the internet. It's like a clear window into a past version of yourself and all the memories that are attached to those years, good and bad. I get very sentimental about that stuff.

But, eh. You know. We grow, we get old, and we die. And then none of it matters. So! Who wants ice cream?

reminds me of the social aspect of my favorite MMO when i was younger...the community was so lively and there were so many people playing! so there were tons of friends and relationships i made during those years...

granted that was from 2005 to 2007...

i quit it for a while and logged back in during the end of 2012, and as i had expected, there was far fewer people playing and the entire world had changed. Although there were less people, i made a clan with a couple of random guys which i then became extremely close to and that was the probably the most fun i have EVER had on that game...our clan, which grew quite large at the time ended up dying out..BUT i still talk to my friends through KIK and we are all still as close as ever. we are all very busy but right now we are all playing destiny and talk about different games we play so its really awesome!!

long story short, I made these friends in the later years, the friends that were ordinary people and actually got more involved and worked harder in the game because we had that social aspect! (because grinding is boring if you do it alone)...so idk i guess you can try to make friends with the newer members..i mean im always looking for friends! xD hahaha and im a really talkative guy and i just joined earlier this year
