i wash my hands but some people here have gone to obsessive lengths i clean myself very well so if i pee im not a walking virus..we are exposed to these germs every single day..

sadly there is nothing you can do about it, i suppose the thought of "germs" and "dirty" makes people incredibly uneasy? as for those who dont wash their hands when leaving the bathroom...just people being people...one word....CARELESS

I wash my hands before I eat.
I wash my hands before I come out the bathroom.
I wash em after I'd clean after my puppies.
I wash em from placing my hands on the floor or on the ground.
Wash em after I'd touch my food.
Wash em after I take the garbage out.
Wash em after I'd touch something rusty,
Wash em after I'd touch something slimy.
Wash em when my hands get all sweaty.
Watch em when my hands get all smelly.
Watch em when I touch something Sticky.
Watch em when I touch something dusty.
Watch em when my hands get all dirty,
When it's dirty, I must wash to get my hands clean from filth.
Cause I don't like filth on my hands.
That's how clean I am.
Sam I am.

The way I see it not washing your hands is natural and we are not meant to. Its natural in order to build up a good immune system. That being said it is important during times of flu season or if you're travelling. Otherwise the only time I will really wash my hands is if I'm making food someone else is going to eat, or if they are visibly dirty. Even then its usually just with water.

so I have a MASSIVE pet peeve about people not washing their hands. I guess you could call me a germ-a-phoebe but I think it is absolutely disgusting to use the restroom and not wash your hands. I will not lie, I will look at the person with a disgusted look and shake my head if they walk to the door without washing their hands. I carry a stack of napkins with me where ever I go so that I don't have to touch the door handle. I also don't shake hands unless I have to (I.E. the boss, or a job interview) since I don't know if they washed their hands.

what are your thoughts on the matter?

If you touch a secretion, do you wash your hands immediately? How do you deal with body fluids while having sex? You won't touch your sweaty, dreamy, 2D anime girls even with a twenty foot pole?

I only use public restrooms if it's an emergency. But if I see someone just dip as soon as they leave the toilet stall, I try to get them to notice the dirty look I'm giving them as they exit.

While hand washing is the most effective practice in use currently to prevent the spread of disease, going overboard with cleanliness can also leave you more susceptible to disease. There are natural flora and fauna on your skin and within your body that helps to protect you from many invasive organisms. When you use products such as hand sanitizer on an excessive basis, you leave your self exposed to the invasive organisms. Best practice is to wash your hands, dry them using paper towels from a dispenser, grab a dry paper towel to turn off the water (you didn't exactly have clean hands before you turned on the water), and use a paper towel to open the door if it opens inward. If the door opens outward, just shove it open with your shoe.

Why don't you want to touch the door after you washed your hands? Because not everyone washes their hands and sometimes folks have communicable diseases on them. However, most public restrooms are cleaner than your home bathroom. This is because they are cleaned daily. 20/20 did a study a little while ago where they found that the women's restroom has more bacteria than the men's restroom, the soap dispenser was one of the dirtiest locations for both men and women because it is touched by everyone who is attempting to clean their hands, and the door handle (at the time) was one of the cleanest because folks avoid it.

Sure, basic hygiene such as washing after pooing and before eating is sensible.
With soap.
Anti-bacterial stuff is usually counter-productive as all you are doing is selectively breeding stronger bacteria.
And just water is also counter-productive as moist conditions make bacteria grow. So it's actually marginally better to just walk out than to just rinse.

I'm old enough to remember when most male toilets both in schools and elsewhere were usually out of soap and towels - guys just didn't make a stink (no pun intended) about them being out, so the cleaners saved themselves some time/money.

I want to bloody chop up this thread with an axe with glee and blood splattered all over my face! Stop!

We know we all need to wash our GD hands!

Thank You. Thank You.

Quite a lot more important than most realize, or CARE to fully acknowledge and practice....
