Is there a particular trope, character type, plot twist, etc. that will make you immediately drop a series?

For me it's needlessly killing off pets. There's just something about it that makes me not want to give the story any more time.

On a totally different level the other thing that drives me away from series is if I don't like the aesthetic, I need to enjoy looking at the characters in order to immerse myself in the story. I think that's why I like anime and manga but I never got into American comic books.

Anime where the MC suddenly finds he or she is the only person in the universe who can pilot the uber robot.

So sick of that trope.

Now if the MC earns the right I'm fine with it but noob MC who knows nothing about piloting a robot suddenly defeating enemies with extensive experience? No, no, and no.

I don't watch blatantly anti-Christian things.

My patience with light novel shounen action adaptations has been wearing more and more lately, and they've become ever so numerous. I'm tired of harems, four-episode arcs, badly rushed exposition, and central plot-lines that don't get resolved... light novel shows tend to have these in spades lol

I'm not sure there's anything absolute for me, it's more about how things fit into the series and what appeals to me.

I don't really like when rape is involved in a show, I think it's a tough one to get right and it's a pretty major thing to do to a character so it's quite likely to put me off. Even if it is well handled, it's still likely to dampen my enjoyment of a show.

I can't think of anything specific that'd instantly make me stop watching something. There would be things that make me stop watching but it's more likely to be a combination of factors that mean the show isn't for me. I guess you could say "boredom", although even then I might give it a chance if I'm assured that it gets better, if I have nothing else to do with the time or for some other reason.

A character in the main cast that has an annoying voice. It wouldn't be so bad if they showed up once in a while but if they are in every episode then i'm done i'll wait for the dub.

Example her voice makes my ears bleed.

Ugh...tell me about it. She makes an already average show even worse.

For me, it would have to be poor transitioning in anime.

I don't think I wait . . yes I do. I dropped Attack on Titan like a hot rock when the mom (aunt?) got eaten. That one just pushed all my NO buttons at the same time. Most of the time I stop watching a show because it doesn't appeal. One thing that will raise my ire is when I find a show needlessly toying with the audience emotions when it is not needed. And honestly? I have a hard time remembering the last time that happened. But on the other hand the last episode of Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride) got the audience emotionally invested in the show in a good way. The only show whose VAs I actually disliked was the cast of Ranma 1/2. The VA cast in Japanese sounded like rabid, hyperactive chipmunks, but I need to go back and listen to the DVDs in Japanese to see if MY ears matured.

^ This applies to me almost verbatim.

Thinking about what i've sat through, I don't think there's any one factor that I can call a deal-breaker , but there are certain combinations that come close.

But rape is definitely an extremely off-putting factor for me as well. My overall enjoyment has always been lessened by it, and I can think of one example where it caused me to drop a show immediately.

from urbandictionary.com -------> Japanese acronym for Netorare, , meaning "Cuckold". In short, the main protagonist's loved one(s) are taken or seduced away from him and the heroine might be willing or unwilling. This is to cause an emotion of deep jealousy on the reader.

Ah. Thank you. Yes, I can see that being a touchy subject to view.

Uh for me, a fairly weak main female character in a reverse harem anime usually makes me drop a series.
