It's topics like these that have caused me to sometimes think in the odd japanese word I know. I won't judge people for dropping in japanese words into their first language speech, but I wouldn't do it myself, since I don't know japanese other than the occasional word.

What do you mean "think in the Japanese words I know?"

Like if I think something is cute I'd think "kawaii" instead of "cute". Same goes for other short phrases/words like "yare yare", "hai", "mattaku", etc. I'd think that sometimes instead of the actual English translation.

There's something not quite right going on up in that head of mine.

Oh I understand now, that's pretty interesting. that may have happened to me before as well

But I don't think it's a bad thing, and there is definitely nothing wrong going on in that head of yours

When I walk into work I give a hearty おはよう!and watch my co-workers either roll their eyes or mutter "morning".

I also say まったね! when I leave.

It's my thing.

(I have other co-workers who toss out words from other languages as well so it's not as odd as it sounds in context.)

Your work place seems like a fun place with all the languages going on

I've been watching anime for yeaaars, so since i was little i used to say "itha" (ow), so whenever i get hurt, so I can never say 'ow' as my initial reaction, bc im too used to itha. I also go "waaaa" (wow) cause its so often used. Its a little funny bc my friends who don't watch anime as much as i do use "kawaii" but im actually accustomed to calling everything i see cute, &if people do/say something funny i go "thats cute" so i cant change that either. so it goes both ways. I don't use kawaii ever.

Maybe hai will slip up sometimes too. But i wish i can speak more jap with others! Sometimes i think up jap dialogs, but usually i stick to speaking english cause ya!

I also wish that I can speak japanese, but sticking with English is fine for me (for now..)
Actually I know Bengali, which I speak with my family, but no one else

kawaii sometimes and I say sugoi relativity often. But I think japanese phrases a lot, without vocalizing them.
I don't think judging people based on this is cool though. People being themselves, regardless of how annoying, is a great thing. And also anyone with a "personality" is super obnoxious, so judge not lest ye be judged.

I tend to do this a lot too. I think the words/phrases/sentences without vocalizing them. And I agree with you, that people shouldn't judge people nor call them names just because they do this. Actually, not just in this case but also in life in general.

I've stopped after going through that phase in 7th grade... but I do often think kawaii, kuso, various other Japanese cuss words/rude sayings, and ohayou.
