Then again, crazy weeaboos are not that uncommon.

Instead of "Checking your privilege", you should probably check your facts.

Stereotypes. Some of which are true, unfortunately.

I just looked into it deeper and it appears it IS legal to carry a sword around in Utah. So if he DIDN'T lunge at the cops and carrying a sword in the state of Utah is legal why were the cops tailing him if he didn't commit any crime. More bs on the cops.

Agreed.

You can't apply them to everyone though. That'd just be ignorant. Tbh, none of the black stereotypes I've heard of apply to me.

I'll wait for the full investigation before forming an opinion of the the deceased or the cops. It's far too early to just go all in on either side in my opinion.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but you never lunge at a police officer with a weapon.
My condolences to his family.

I agree, but there's NO proof of that occurring.

I'm not taking sides, but there's also the question, "Where's your proof that it didn't happen?"

It appears the sword was real. Either way, he was clearly cosplaying. It doesn't justify what they did regardless. No one just carries around a samurai sword in Utah, of all places, to make a death threat.

Before anyone pulls a race card on me, the fact that he is black doesn't mean anything. P.S: I am African American

If him being black didn't mean anything, then you wouldn't have included it in the title to the thread. Of course him being black meant something to the story. There's been an ongoing narrative of this sort of thing happening to young, black, racially-profiled males when confronted with trigger happy officers for quite a while now. Only those among us who live under a giant, collective rock have not heard these stories. You being black doesn't change the fact that it's an important detail in this story.

Also, I wasn't there, but I sincerely doubt this kid "lunged" at anyone with the sword. That does not jive. Sounds more like an inept cop trying to explain away his mistake.

The onus of proof is on the person who is currently breathing. You see the other guy doesn't have the luxury of offering his side of the story...being shot to death and all.
