Can't help it. Just another self destructive tendency that won't subside.

Usually, yes, because sometimes they heal with the scab folding into the wound, causing minor pain and irritation as it puts pressure onto the afflicted spot. Other times accidentally as the scabbed area itches and inadvertently it gets scratched off while itching, ( often when it's large it buckles and get scraped off as it is already starting to fray and fall at the edges).

Sometimes just scraping them off causes a little bit of bleeding, but it isn't often the case as they get older, and it results in a new, cleaner and neater scabbing.

I also pop blisters and cut away calluses (which are a bane to me when they develop on my hands because both affect tactile sensitivity which is of the utmost importance. I also have a fairly large aversion to sawdust or other fine particles coating my fingers for a similar reason... and hate gloves).

Sometimes, I can't help it. If I'm bored then I have to pick the scab.

I compulsively pick scabs. I used to eat them when I was younger.
