I am fortunate to say that all 3 of my siblings watch anime to various extents. The youngest watches stuff after I sell him on it (like telling him that in Yu Yu Hakusho the main character is dead within the first 30 seconds). The middle two are independent but watch almost enough to give me a run for my money.

I have 2 siblings (I'm the middle one). My older sister was never into it but my brother is the person who got me into anime again. We used to watch anime as kids but I guess I thought I outgrew that phase but one day I was bored so I decided to sit with my brother while he was watching Chobits and I hated it but somehow it made me curious and here I am now lol. Now I'm even more into anime than my brother is. We're complete opposites in every so it's nice to have anime in common.

My brother is 5 years older than me. He was the one that got me into Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, when we were younger. He doesn't watch a whole lot now, but has enjoyed watching Claymore, and Attack on Titan. In fact, he just marathoned the second set of Attack on Titan.

To break up with someone because of anime? that's the most stupid excuse or the most stupid guy or the most stupid girl for believing that excuse and letting others to influence her likes.

As for me, my 2 little brothers watch anime but not constantly, one is more of a fan of it.

My older brother got me into anime. (6 years older)
He got me into DBz and Naruto.
These days I rarely watch any long running shounen like that anymore.
He on the other hand only watches One Piece and Naruto.
I did get him to watch: Mirai Nikki, Shingeki no Kyojin, and Durarara!! though.

Hello Crunchyroll people, this post is for those who have brothers and/or sisters (whether older or younger). If you are an only child I don't mind your comments and are therefore welcome as well. I have a younger brother who doesn't care for anime and that makes me feel kinda sad knowing that I didn't raise him right. I won't go into specifics til I've warmed up to y'all, but I want to know if your siblings are down with anime or not. Just general stuff about the topic, say whatever is on your mind.

So what... anime isnt all the great in comparison to all that there is to enjoy in the world.

You shouldn't try to force your hobbies and interests on others.. Usually it just backfires they wanna get as far away as possible from you.

I'm an only child, but I do have a few friends who are into anime/I got into anime. But, if my siblings weren't into it, I wouldn't force them.. too much.

Its no so much of a stupid excuse really.

If you're the kind to spend all day watching anime... talking about anime... etc.. and your spouse doesn't. Then there is a huge disconnect between you. Its made even worse if your spouse doesn't tolerate your passion for it and treats you like a child for watching cartoons all the time. Your likely to become attracted or interested in other people who actually share your interests and realize they are more compatible with you then who you are with now.

You would think these topics would have come up before a marriage but thats not always the case. All to often people get married without truly understanding what kind of person they are with or what they are truly passionate about.

Before you dismiss this ... just think about it.. What is your #1 hobby that if your SO didn't partake in you know the relationship is bound to fail.

Or what is a hobby that if your SO did you couldn't stand to be with them any more.

If my significant other doesn't like my hobbies, he can either respect them or go to hell for acting so immature. My SO doesn't have to like the same things I do but he must respect them. If there's no respect since the beginning, the relationship is bound to fail.

Now, if someone watches tv all day, anyone would get mad if your love one stays 24/7 in front of the tv regardless of what they're watching, instead of spending time with you. That's why I think anime is an excuse and not the actual reason for a break up. Let's be serious...there must something more important than "I'm leaving you because you like anime!" like the guy not getting attention...because that's really STUPID.

And if anime is the real cause of the break up then my points #2 and #3 from my last post still stand.

My older brother who is 26, and my cousin who is 21. Both like anime but don't have much time to watch them much now. They pretty much introduced me to this. Earliest memory is of my brother who owned FLCL on dvd.

I have two younger sisters and both have watched anime to a certain extent. They are casual fans, and are not actively watching or looking up anime/manga related material in their free time. That said, they do have a soft spot for particular shows and will get excited when we talk about them. Rozen Maiden, Princess Tutu, and Cardcaptor Sakura being the top three shows either of them really liked.

My sister liked watching The Legend of Korra. I guess that could be an introduction to the anime world in a way. She seems to like the anime I watch but doesn't like that it is Japanese and she has to read subtitles. I think it might just be because she is only in elementary school and can't read quickly - especially when more than one person is talking on screen at same time she can't keep up just yet.

My little sister's always despised Japanese media... I think simply on principle of me liking it.
