My boss is asking for a recommendation for a new game to play that is not as time consuming as an MMO but not just a casual like angry birds.

Would prefer to play a game that is Sci-Fi/Fantasy, no need to play in a group but still able to group on occasion, and preferably no subscription fee... Thats all the information I could get from him.

Anyone have a game I can recommend? I was stumped as to a good game for him.

Borderlands 2? It's not as time consuming because you can actually beat it. You can play by yourself and you can play with others. If you play with others they can help you beat your game or you can help them beat theirs. I like it. I don't know if you would consider it Sci-fi/Fantasy...he might have already played it. Oh and there is no subscription fee and plenty of codes found online for DLC.

Hope he finds something he likes!

DAMMIT!

Yeah, Borderlands 2 is about perfect for this. It can be played casually to let out some steam, it's great fun for online co-op but it's not required. AND the writing is hillarious.

Left 4 Dead 2 would also work great.

War Thunder, XCOM: Enemy Unkown, AudioSurf 2, TrackMania 2, Just Cause 2, Saints Row:the Third/IV.

Idk, this is just from my library i can think of thats not to casual and not to time consuming.

If it's scifi oriented FPS with some storyline you could have him try Defiance [based on the TV show] or Warframe [in late open beta but quite stable].

Hm, the only thing that I can think of that fits that description, besides Borderlands would be Planetside 2.

Planetside 2 is a good suggestion.

It's free to play, there's no pay to win, it has a large, persistent world that is far more interesting than most MMOs, but it's basically a good class based shooter.

It has huge maps with hundreds of people and it is very easy to jump in and out of squads, so playing with friends is easy.

Also, the gunplay feels pretty good and there are a tonne of class/weapon/kit/vehicle combinations. You can really make your own character.

Dragons Dogma; Dark Arisen
^Capcom does Final Fantasy/Skyrim/Dark Souls/Insert Fantasy title here. It's really good, it's fun to play, and it's a single player RPG that takes investment but not all of your day.
