I see a bunch of posts about it ending and I saw a pic of a manga chapter called " the x last x message " i believe. So i was wondering, when people say Togashi is going on a break AGAIN and that hunter x hunter is 'ending' on ep 148 ( im only on 54, hooked and i want to stop and wait till i know these answers). Does that mean the ending is on ep 148? Or one day, someday, Togashi will pick the manga up (because its unfinished? can someone confirm this please, or is the manga done) &he'll start working on it, and we'll get more hunter x hunter, but way later?

Please no spoilers! I just want to know if its truly the end of the show at 148 and if the manga is done, or if its still incomplete and there is a chance he will pick it up after his break and there will be more eps. Thanks guys! Love this show & would be really disappointed if they had so little episodes.

It's ending on episode 148. The manga is still continuing although on hiatus right now because Togashi has some health problems.

Do you know if there are any chances that the anime will continue with another season after he picks up the manga? Because I thought they ended the anime because they caught up to the manga and now theres a break. But if the manga continues, is there a chance the anime will have a second season, since the show is really popular and there were no fillers (As far as ive seen anyway)

In the future maybe but it might be on a very long break since it caught up to the Election Arc. The current arc from the manga is still ongoing.

If the show gets another season, I wouldn't expect it in a few years.

So let me get this straight, the show caught up, and it ended it. But they're ending it somewhere that can still be continued from the manga. Is it going to make up its own ending or stay true to the manga? Because if thats what they do, then it'd be an incomplete ending and they would make another season, even if it takes years. Like it took a long time for naruto shippuden to release even after naruto ended..
dont know if thats even the right comparison, but its because im telling myself theyll continue it when there are more archs. Im hoping so anyway, and id totally read the manga if the anime completely quit. Are the manga and episodes on the same area right now? If the manga starts, ill just read it from there and hope they make episodes on it in the future, if thats the case.
thank you so much for answering my Qs so far btw!

I have no idea what ending it will have since the PV doesn't really reveal much. However, it will conclude the Election Arc properly and maybe give a hint to the next arc. I have no idea though.

The current arc from the manga is still ongoing. Even if that arc was resolved, there are still other subplots that needs to be resolved. Like I said before though, another season would take a very long time.

If it makes you feel any better the very end of the Election arc has a good finale feel to it going by the manga.

I know this sounds like a looott, but can i please add you, and ask you if they hint anything on ep 148? I might not be able to catch up and curiosity will kill me. Ofc i might catch up, as sad as id be for it.. What does PV mean btw? And ah i see, so the manga is continuing meaning subplots will be taken care of and it has the potential to go on, and the anime hasn't yet shown that but it'll properly end the arch. Makes sense. I can wait, I know that hxh has been like this for a long time, or so i see from everyone talking about its long breaks even though it was released so long ago. Most animes would have 300+ by now, like naruto and one piece. So as long as it comes back like it always has, i think ill be happy.

I just accidentally read something about Gon and Killua separating and crying :/ I really dislike those endings.. but thank you, i guess it does, but would you happen to know what chapter it left off on? the latest? if so, ill start reading the manga after, in hopes that episodes will come later, even if it is a lot later bc apparently hxh does that.

There are currently 349 chapters in the manga, which started in 1998. (Naruto started in 1999 and has over 600)

The anime is likely going to end at chapter 340, which was the chapter Togashi finished at before he began his 2+ year hiatus. He returned from hiatus recently to turn out 341-349, with some minor breaks, and is on a longer hiatus now because of claimed back problems. (Honestly his reason to me is irrelevant, I'll wait as long as it takes given the quality of material, he can write at whatever pace gives him the most enjoyment.)

If HxH gets another anime adaption, even expecting it in five years would be optimistic. It's an old series.

Thank you so much! Really detailed, and ya i can tell that all the other old animes that are still continuing have way more episodes. But i totally agree with you, I'll start reading the manga from that chapter then, and id be happy as long as he finishes the series as well. Even happier if the anime picked it up again. I like to optimistic but realistic, so i'll keep my hopes up even though i don't fully expect it. But honestly thats a huuuge break, a lot of people say he's just lazy? I wouldnt know..

He has done scribbles for a few chapters and it still worked. I think he should just do the writing and let someone else handle the illustration. If he seriously does have back problems so severe that like 3 years of rest couldn't help him, then his back is probably never going to get better. There are plenty of mangas that have separate writers and separate illustrators. As far as Hunter x Hunter is concerned, it is still his IP, so he would still get all the royalties, he's just be hiring an illustrator to do the drawing.

The downside to this is :

1) The illustration quality of the manga may drop. Although since Togashi has cut corners quite a bit before, this shouldn't be that big of a deal.

2) He would have to pay someone. But he would still be making more money off of it than not doing it at all, so it's not really that much of a downside either.

3) It would eat into his Dragon Quest time.

The upside is:

1) The manga would actually be completed some day.

2) He would be getting extra income.

3) You can write in bed. You probably could do the plot and dialogue to a 24 page manga quite easily on a pad of paper or a laptop.

I guess the biggest downside would be pride. But honestly I don't think anyone would think any less of him. After all it's more noble to fight to the end regardless of means than to just give up.

I think it's been said that the whole reason why it takes so long is because he wants to do everything himself, he wants it to be his manga. I don't even think he has assistants. Which of course doing a weekly manga all by yourself means overworking and injuries.
So his pride is the only "problem"(though others may say it's been that pride that's given them the work they've grown to love or whatever). I don't think he's worried about money or other things like that. He's been out of at least manga work for like 2 years.
