I really want to go to anime expo but i'm worried that there will only be kids and pre-teens there. Yes i know i'm only 19 but i like hanging out with the older crowd. Can someone who has been to anime expo or any anime cons tell me about the age range of people there.

You should go! I went there last year and there is a large age variety there from early teens to adults.

Yeah this is right. There is a very large range of age groups, if you want to stay later you'll get a bit of an older crowd. I believe they even had 18+ events like a nightclub type thing, but I couldn't give you much info on that as I didn't go. Dancing and me should never been seen together

Moved this over to conventions and meetups, it seemed like a more appropriate place, probably get better answers..

But yes, there's a huge age range at AX! Wandering the hall you'll probably see anywhere from toddlers to grandparents, while the masquerade, dances, and so forth tend to be more the 18-35 crowd in general.

They definitely tend to be, yes. Partly because of the time - they're all in the evenings, and the masquerade especially lasts a long time, so kids (and their parents) tend to not go, or leave early. The masquerade is hugely popular, the line starts hours before. The dance tends to be pretty popular as well, but way easier to get into.

Might depend on the location, I know in Toronto when one of my friends went, there were a lot of people in our age group, 18-20's

I'd love to go. I'm in NJ, about 40 miles from it, and would take me only an hour to get there. But I don't wanna go alone. Cons are like sex, it's better with more people. Anyways, don't worry about the age, there's a huge range of age groups.

I find that different activities draw different ages. Cosplayers are mainly teens - young adults. Those at the concerts are usually young adults-40s. Those that spend their con in autograph lines are young adult-40s. Same with those that attend the charity auction.

I've been to Anime Expo in Los Angeles twice and just went this year too and what I can tell you when I went the majority of age jumps from like 17 to around 30ish idk but theres too many people so I didn't keep track. Yes I agree too hanging out with older matured folks is a little better thats why I went with my older sister and her friends and we all just try to make new friends it was rather fun. lmfao
