Well, working at their distribution centers has and is my highest paying job so far($17.55). I don't see anything worth complaining about. I don't go to Walmart often, so I don't really see much of the weird stuff going on.

They once asked me to pull 800lbs of soil upslope (and there were rocks obstructing the wheels) with a pallet jack. I completed it but ended up with a very minor grade 1 MCL sprain. Went to the doctor and determined a recovery time of 10 days, I ask for that and they wouldn't give it to me and for good measure they also had me shipped off to be drug tested immediately..... I wasn't asking for compensation or anything just the small recovery time.... these people are insane....

Yeah, not shopping there anymore...
I will just stick to Target/Ross/Rouses

It's bad to work at but great to shop at. Prices are better than Amazon on occasion and thier food selection is great for people with food allergies.

I try to avoid shopping there when I can because it's overcrowded and people tend to stare at you when they walk by.

For those who shop there it's great.
For it's employees, surrounding neighborhoods in locations, and anyone down the manufacturing chain it's hell.

Eh, I don't mind it. It's got low prices and its convenient, so I shop there quite a bit. I make sure I go to the nicer ones, though. You know, the still sketchy but not as sketchy ones. But I've heard that they treat their employees very poorly so I know people who absolutely refuse to go there.

You may hate it for how it treats its employees, but you got to admit, it does have cheap groceries.

Those cheap groceries are actually pretty expensive. You just don't feel the cost directly because Walmart is taking advantage of the welfare state to make up for its employees' income and benefit shortfalls. The average annual income of a full time Walmart employee is just barely above the 2014 federal poverty guideline for a household of one person. If you're a single parent of one child Walmart's average annual income is below the 2014 poverty guideline for your household. God help you if you have two kids.

That means programs such as HUD, SNAP, Medicaid, and so on have to pick up the slack, and while these are all worthwhile programs which should continue to exist (indeed, they should expand) their eligibility guidelines shouldn't be incorporated into a company's wage scheme.
