I don't shop at Walmart all that much, but it's a pretty good place to shop. Will almost always have what you need, I think.

Eh, it's OK. I try to avoid it, it just creeps me out. My parents like going to the Super Walmart.

You may hate it for how it treats its employees, but you got to admit, it does have cheap groceries.

Those cheap groceries are actually pretty expensive. You just don't feel the cost directly because Walmart is taking advantage of the welfare state to make up for its employees' income and benefit shortfalls. The average annual income of a full time Walmart employee is just barely above the 2014 federal poverty guideline for a household of one person. If you're a single parent of one child Walmart's average annual income is below the 2014 poverty guideline for your household. God help you if you have two kids.

That means programs such as HUD, SNAP, Medicaid, and so on have to pick up the slack, and while these are all worthwhile programs which should continue to exist (indeed, they should expand) their eligibility guidelines shouldn't be incorporated into a company's wage scheme.

I tend to pay more shopping at Target than I do buying at Walmart. That's where I base my observation of cheap groceries. Their niche is after all to cater to the poor.

Meh. I can see how People think they're taking over, especially Small Towns that lose all their Business to them. And the Waltons themselves, as they're a major point of the "1%" in this Country as far as wealth is divided. But in a Small Town like Mine where even Small Businesses that are run from the ground up here don't even stay in Business very long, with or without the Wal-Mart...I'm glad that We have One here. Or else there would be liek NO other place to get everyday needs for decent prices.

I can't say I'm as privileged as a lot of people in this thread. Where I live, the only major store IS Walmart. So it's kind of a necessity.

There's no Wal-Marts in NYC, only Long Island has them. I've gone there, but not all that much.

I never go to walmart or target. Both of them make me dizzy and I instantly get a headache right after stepping in a walmart. Never understood why XD I love Costco, though, I won't lie! Costco is great!! :O
