Rumors? In high school? Not in mine, but in others yes.
I know there are rumors, but I mean my school really isn't really like common schools and stuff. I don't know how to explain it. It's like we aren't in each others business.I know many people and I can kinda feel that there are rumors about me, but it hasn't hurt me. I'm a nice person so you could kinda tell the rumors were an obvious lie. I don't believe in rumors because they're BS

my freshmen year i spread this rumor that my friend could sit on a Popsicle and tell you what flavor it was. like he would stick it in his ass and say "it's grape" and get it correct. of course it wasn't true and everyone knew that but it was a hilarious thing that spread through the whole school. and this isn't a rumor but there is this black guy who was new to the school (we weren't really friends at the time but we ended up becoming very close friends) so i literally named him like my pet. i gave him a traditional afican name (I named him OJ) and told the entire school that was his name. teachers, friends, strangers all called him by this name. like 60% of the people he knew never learned his real name xD Oh and people thought i did all these hardcore drugs like meth and cocaine but yea i have never touched anything like that and never will lol

people told me stuff and i always wondered why they are telling me bc i literally could not care any less, but one of my friends started a rumor about another friend of ours that he broke both his arms trying to have his way with a horse and for some god awful reason its stuck with him all these years and people actually believed it and still do. Generally i take everything i hear with a grain of salt because its most likely a big exaggeration or flat out lie with truth sprinkled around it. I mean they started a rumor and to this day my boyfriend cannot escape it that he is this huge coke dealer but he hasnt done a drug in his life, he gets upset if i ask him to take an asprin so its more ridiculous than anything.

On my freshmen year, I went to a VERY small school so spreading a rumor went around the school in just less than a day. I didn't go much into it. But if it was something to be concerned about then I would go up to the person and ask them about it or if they knew the rumor. Rumors are everywhere, not just high school. Most people haven't matured or understand how rumors at that age (or any) so they don't know how it can affect a person or have their reputation- If they care for it.

I'm no longer in high school, but for the most part I didn't pay much attention to rumors. I guess I would believe them if I knew the person and thought it was in the realm of things they might do/think/etc.

I heard this one rumor about a person I only sort of knew, and it was basically to a T what the topic creator mentioned... Basically messing around in the stalls at school. Now random kids doing this at all would've been bad, but one of the kids in question was gay, so the rumor had a little more fire to it. Anyway, I figured the rumor was a bunch of lies, and moved on. Especially since I didn't really know the guy.

Eventually he becomes one of my little brother's friends (they're the same age). And although I'm not the type of person to bring up such things, my boyfriend is. and he brought it up.
My brother's friend confirmed that the rumors were true.

lol this guy.

In the end though it doesn't really matter. He could be lying just for the attention.
Rumors only really matter when they affect your professional life or affect you emotionally.

Rumors especially high school rumors are always heavily exaggerated usually there's 10% truth (if any) and 90% overblown randomness

There was a rumor I got shot at a Burger King because I missed a few days of school. I came back and people were asking "Oh my God, are you alright? and I was like "Uhhh, yes?".

It's just human nature. I don't bother with it. I just let it be. They can do what they want to do.

I suppose most rumours hold some aspect of truth in them, but people start adding their own version to the tale to make it sound more glorified. I think it's similar to legends - there were no dragons, but maybe there was something similar to it and as people passed on the story, it changed. People love hot gossip, so I'm sure they amplify the true event to some extent.

Eto, where do I start? Oh yeah, a rumor is going on around high school about some dude doing it with a chick in the restroom stalls. People were speculating and conversating about rumors like this all the time, especially during lunch period. But this got me thinking, how fast do rumors spread? Rumors like this tend to spread like wildfire, only without any firefighters to extinguish it. On another note, it reminds me how gullible students are when it comes to these subjects. Like, students gulp this up immediately without any evidence whatsoever to prove this. It makes me want to try to confirm the validity of it before believing rumors like this so wholeheartedly. But you gotta admit, it does make for some great drama.

Anyways, do you believe in high school rumors? Why or why not? At least give me a paragraph explaining so, because I don't want any lazy responses. But you can take a go at trying to be funny.

I know this may seem naive of me.. But I try not to believe anything unless I hear it from the person themselves.. Part of what made me decide to respond to this, is because we actually did have a couple do it in like 2 or 3 different parts of the school. They only ended up getting caught once though.. Kind of one of those things you hear about, and are truly blown away when you find out it was actually true.. Quite disturbing lol. It was terrible.. I knew both of them too. xD.

I gotta hand it to the High School kids, they do make up slightly more plausible rumors than younger kids.

I just think back to the spider eggs in bubble gun....

I never got involved in any rumors around my high school, I wasn't cool enough for that crowd.

I have to say the bunch I was involved with seemed to be grounded in reality.... The rumor about someone getting knocked up was based on seeing the happy couple having a smoke and the girlfriend complaining about her hemorrhoids and the fact that the baby is making her incontinent. It was the '70's, what can I say?
Nope there was little innuendo about that bunch.
