So apparently Microsoft has announced Windows 10.

This is how it looks in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu0sqRPx9Dw, Microsoft's own video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84NI5fjTfpQ

So what do you think about this?

Well...At least the start bottom is back. Hopefully I won't have so many bugs when the final product comes out!

It's about bloody time, I say.

They're going to cater to desktop users this time around, which is a good idea since that's always been the bread and butter for their business. They effectively treated that customer base like stupid sheep people with Windows 8 by making a less intuitive design in a ham fisted way to force us to adapt and buy their phones and tablets. Probably not the best strategy, as Steve Ballmer can attest!

As a desktop user and PC gamer it's going to be nice to ride out this next wave of releases while they're still in damage control mode.

That being said, I might not actually bother to take a free Windows 10 upgrade on my current PC's. Quite a bit of tinkering as well as using Stardock's Start8 has effectively made them into Windows 7 machines, and I'm pretty content with how they function now. But at least the future is looking bright for any new PC purchases I make down the road!

I agree, that definitely was not the best strategy and it just added unnecessary complexity to laptops/desktops for no reason

I may or may not upgrade to 10 (I may not want to adjust again), but imo it definitely looks more visually appealing.

Everyone likes Old windows, nothing innovative. I wont be updating cause windows 8 is running perfect on my machine atm.

If they made the OS where it was super customizable on its own without 3rd party software they should do that.

like resizing start button, putting it anywhere you want, can take shape of cube, rectangle, triangle.

An ORB that expands once you mouse over. Maybe Voice commands that are simple.

Sign Language function

i can go on forever with ideas id love to see.

Oh I'm pretty excited for it. Might have to go home after I get off work and try out the trial version they've come out with. Also would love it even more if the rumor that it might be giving it out for free like Apple is doing turns out to be true.

I've had Windows 8 for a while now and I must say I really miss the look and feel of Windows 7. I was hoping they'd go back to something more similar to Windows 7 next but it doesn't look like that's happening. Oh well, I guess it's time to get used to the new look of Windows.

It basically looks like Windows 8 and Windows 7 combined. Nah, I'm fine. I'm already dealing with my Windows 8.

Microsoft seems to have a groove of having every other version of their OS being good.
Example:
XP - Good
Vista - Bad
Windows 7 - Good
Windows 8 - Bad
Windows 10 - Potentially good

I'm a bit wary though, they have a trend established where every other OS is terrible. Since they skipped 9 which was in line to become the good one does this mean 10 is instead good or is 10 still scheduled to be terrible. If we go by this clearly not satire insider information from April 2013... looks like 10 is terrible. http://www.infoworld.com/article/2613504/microsoft-windows/microsoft-skips--too-good--windows-9--jumps-to-windows-10.html

(probably not jumping on this until I have a machine with DDR4, also I want to give time for all the good shell mods to release)

Have you tried a start menu replacement? You can effectively turn Windows 8 into Windows 7 for free.

Limit and difference between Windows 10 versions could be deal breaker. Domains and Bit locker.... Must be revealed at it time
