Insomnia

Hmm.. For some people, Kava Kava doesn't affect them much.. But for me about 3-6 500mg capsules of it gets me drifting away pretty fast.. (considering you have insomnia, you would probably have to take closer to 5-6) Usually I'll take 3 to begin with, then take 2-3 more if I am not feeling that within 30-60 minutes... I get some pretty high quality stuff though from a place that I know I can trust from previous experiences/the other herbs I have bought from them.. Although, that goes to say.. I have had some spells of insomnia before...

I'll have to look into that, for me herbs work guaranteed but I don't always have the money for that

I was going to respond to this thread yesterday but since I was busy doing something else I could not. Yes, I have a problem with insomnia. I used to have a prescription for Ambien for insomnia but I had to stop taking them due to it causing blackouts. I would black out and be somewhere and not remember how I got there, and it was scary. I also drink a lot of caffeinated drinks and stay up late at night longer than I should, then when I have to go in to work I have to struggle to make it through the day. And of course this really takes a toll on you health-wise'; much of the time when I get home I have to go lay down, regardless of how much caffeine I had. Then I would stir late at night, unable to go back to sleep. The body's circadian rhythm is disrupted, and its difficult to restore it to normal. As of late I've made progress getting to bad at a proper time by not napping right after I come home and limiting my caffeine intake after a certain time, but its a slippery slope and sometimes I mess up again. It also helps as said above to turn everything off few hours before going to bed.

Insomnia is the reason why I look dead everyday.

Fellow insomnia sufferer here. What I hate the most is that when I'm awake I usually try and finish any work I got left.

My insomnia was worse when I was younger, had only 2 hours of sleep. But, now I just take a melatonin and call it a night.

For me I feel extremely tired all day then I try to sleep and just can't some night It'll take me 8 hours just to fall asleep even though I feel dead tired

yeah what i do is that i try to tire myself out of it but that rarely works so i'd rather wait for the depressive episode to end and voila back to "normal"

Yes, Had it ever since I was a kid. The longest period of insomnia was 2-3 days straight no sleep at all. I was 5 years old when that happened. Now, I'm on meds for it, but it still cuts through it leaving me with at least 4 hours of sleep every night.

I've been on a lot of different prescription sleeping pills, they always work at first, but after a month or 2 they stop working

me neither. I'm always broke but I prefer herbs over prescription pills. The side effects are little to none compared to a prescribed drug.

I have poor sleeping habits. I'm not sure you can call it insomnia or not.

I went an entire day without sleep and slept an entire day. The longest I have went without sleep was at least a week or two. Then I eventually go back to sleep for a day or two.

Man...I deal with insomnia every now and then. I don't have it for like weeks on end, but I get it every few days or so...
What I just do is just try not to think (as in like "what is my future like, blah, blah, blah"), and don't use any electronics like cellphones, tv, portable game devices....

I'm not sure if it's insomnia but I could never get to sleep unless I drank a relaxing herbal tea. I recommend everyone try that at least once. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work, but you had a damn good beverage.
