(In the unlikely event that I ever started dating:) I wouldn't expect a boyfriend to love Anime as much as me, but I would like him to at least TOLERATE it. If he tried to pull something like, "You're not allowed to ever watch Anime ever again" I would direct him to the closest curb. I don't expect anyone to like EVERYTHING I like and it's certainly NOT a requirement, but you know, it would be NICE to find somebody to share my favorite shows with, even if he didn't like everything I do. Anime is so important to me that it's pretty much a part of my life now. Since I have been a fan since 1995 it's not likely going to change at this point. (And no, I'm NOT looking for a boyfriend!)

Would you date someone that openly dislikes anime like her?
Last year there was also a woman in Japan who threw away her husband's anime collection.

My answer Hell. I love anime so i wouldn't give up watching it it's my hobby, my entertainment. The women you describe sounds intolerant and the type i hate the most.

That depends on what I get return for giving up anime and gaming. Seeing how controlling she is, I doubt much with her is a pleasurable experience. If she happened to be a very nice girl who's great in bed... then yes, instantly.

OP, that's awful. He probably has a reason to stay with a finance like her. I hope that issues resolves very soon or else he's going to have a rocky relationship.

Luckily, I found someone who has the same interests as me. She forced me to watch the new Sailor Moon and in exchange we watched some Jojo and ZnT togetther. There's always someone out there who appreciates your interests.

It's one thing to not like anime or video games that perfectly fine but it's a completely different story if your dating someone who is trying to tell you what you can and can't do. No one is ever going to tell me i can't do the things i enjoy.

We don't understand the specifics of the situation. He might watch anime in such a way that is is not healthy for him or them. She may have tried subtler methods till' she snapped. She is still at fault for snapping instead of simply broken the relationship.
Or the lady is a narcissist and feels entitled to do these kinds of theatrics. Then she should leave the relationship with a footprint on her butt.
We all work hard to have rewards, if you care about us then join us or understand. It works both ways.

What's the point of dating someone who doesn't share your interests?

I'm glad my boyfriend is also my anime/gaming buddy. o.o

If someone i care for doesn't like anime then that's fine but the moment they tell me stop watching it that's when they got to go.

If the person was tolerant to my anime fandom, it would be okay. However, if the person I'm dating openly dislikes/disgusted with anime, it may be a problem. Anime is a part of my life...and is a part of who I am. If that person rejects it and finds my fandom as a serious fault, it's not going to work out. I would be completely frustrated because I won't be able to fully show my true side to him
