So I have been watching anime and reading manga for a solid 4 or 5 years. In the summer of 2013 I attended my first convention, Otakon and it was the best thing I have ever done. Safe to say I went in 2014. But starting after that first convention I started to drift away. I didnt read manga or watch anime for a good 2 weeks after that and it became harder to get myself to watch it. I would watch something and then do nothing with anime for like 2 or 3 weeks and then i would watch something. I used to watch anime all day every day. Now it feels like the love for anime is fading away. Any advice because I dont want it to? I dont know how to explain it but its like a chore to start watching it and when I watch it I love it. Im just lost

I know exactly what you mean actually. I go through some periods where I do not want to do anything related to anime...and then I'll be hyper addicted again. I think for me it just comes down to making time for it one way or another. When I am in one of my I don't wanna watch anime phases I just listen to music from anime I have seen; this makes me really want to watch certain parts of an anime that was cool, funny or something else...and that usually does the trick. That or re-watch/re-read your favorite ones...go back to your roots and re-encounter your love for anime/manga

Sometimes all it takes is to step away from something for a short while and your love of it will come back full force. It always works for me with videogames, comics and in the past even anime. The secret is not to give up on it entirely and keep up to date on the new titles and such without actually watching them. Abstinence does in fact make the heart grow fonder.

Thanks! Ive tried stuff like that too but its also weird because I have seen at least 100 different series and its just alot more challenging for me to find other animes that are good. I miss the feeling of a new anime I found and its amazing. I need that back!

I sometimes feel burned out on anime and manga so I move on to something else, but then later come back. I actually like that I get tired of it from time to time because by becoming tired of it I get free time to enjoy or learn about other things.

Life doesn't have to revolve around anime.

Yeah.. I have moments where I will have nothing to do with anime hehe. Hunter x Hunter was my re-introduction into anime after about 3 months of watching barely any. Sometimes taking a break, as the other two have said, is necessary.

When that happens to me I just put off anime indefinitely. I know that if I really am still interested in anime I'll come back to it naturally. And I do. Sometimes it takes up to 2 months but at one point the desire comes back to me, and the first anime I watch after a break is always amazing and has me wanting more anime straight away.

I don't see how this is such a big problem. It seems kind of silly.

Relax. You'll probably get back into it when you feel like it, and if not oh well. Such is a part of life and growing as a person. It's not like you're going to have the exact same set of interests and hobbies until the day you die. It's nothing to feel lost or afraid about.

Don't worry about it. I watch anime on and off all the time. You can have too much of a good thing, so taking breaks is normal Something will ignite that spark again I am going to MCM soon and it has made me super excited

Oddly enough I'm surprised to even be on here. It took a horrific life experience to actually come back and appreciate the joys anime has to offer, almost therapeutic even. Silly I know.

Anyway live your life, anime/manga/ will always be there when you come back to it, whenever that may be.

Hi, I don't have advice but it looks like you've received several excellent replies.
