I know it's ahead of time before Season 2 starts but I'm creating this so we can have a separate forum for the differences we think, see, feel between Seasons 1 & 2. New characters, new places, new events, new magic? All the stuff that makes Log Horizon great but what do you specifically think or feel is "different" (by YOUR definition) of the 1st & 2nd seasons. Feel free to throw out whatever you want. If you have a theory, we also have a Theories, Ideas forum about Log Horzion.

Just posted the 2nd season poster in the group. Given that only the Log Horizon guild members are shown, there's a new female there & I want to say she looks like a magic type. Anyone have an idea?

Lessons learned from Season 2, Ep. 1:
Ok, we now know why the Royal Guard (& who runs them) were acting strange in the last episode of season 1, they've essentially been "turned off". They are located in the Akihabara "Underground Corridor" (who knew?).

It's not just buying buildings, it seems the Council has bought the Cathedral, Merchant Hall and other locations in Akihabara to keep Plant Hwayden out. The total "maintenance cost" owed is 10 million, this also keeps monsters out of the city. Controlled by the bank which is controlled by an Alv/Half-Alv clan.

There's a clan of Alv/half-alv who control the monetary system of the world. They control THE (there is only 1) bank, the Guild Hall Bank. Forgot the name of the clan, starts with a "K". Anyway there's a lot of info on "an ancient treaty" which they can't break it seems. All aspects of this treaty are involved in the 1st episode of season 2.

This clan must have been some Alv who escaped during the time of the Luquenje (6 bent Alv princesses). They live in a very rural, northern part of Japan/Yamato Islands.

Shiroe's plan, it seems, is to take the money away from "the source" of the money. Scenes of Royal Guard like NPCs guarding it.

Looks like Plant Hwyaden has infiltrated Akihabara and is doing a propaganda campaign to win hearts, minds & ultimate allegiance.

I noticed that Shiroe's name didn't appear next to the Guild Building in Akihabara. Is property like the game monopoly if you don't pay your taxes?

Akasutki appears convinced that Shiroe doesn't love her & prefers Minori instead.

There's been at leat 15-16 generations of Sages of the Mistal Lake. The one 15 generations ago put the magical barrier up to protect the gold at the bottom of the dungeon 1st traveled through on the 1st season (can't remember the name).

If I think of something else, I'll post it.

1. The Royal Guard are apparently controlled by the Npcs far away from the city.

2. It was the Kunie clan, and a new position has appeared in Season 2: Successor. I'll have a picture of this posted, but the leader of the Kunie Clan is Kinjou. I have 30 screenshots of the first episode.

3. About the clan, I don't think they're Alv who escaped. I believe they're just people who have been living in the shadows all this time in the mountains. I believe that's actually what it said on the actual details on Alves and Half-Alves.

4. "The source" is most likely the reward for beating this new quest that isn't at all announced publicly. According to the first episode, he failed. We have no idea how until episode 2. Also, the quest had a boss monster that Shiroe couldn't beat with the people he got from another place we don't know about. He most likely died because he didn't have all level 90s helping him. The monsters were around level 70.

5. This new group, the Plant Hwyaden; I don't think it has anything to do with the people that we were introduced to at the end of the first season.

6. Akatsuki is definitely competing with Minori over Shiroe's affections. Though Shiroe is too busy to notice her love for him because he sees her as a capable, reliable ninja as he would view the class itself.

If you watch the 1st episode, you'll see Kinjou with the guardians of the "whirlwind of gold" or whatever. He can obviously teleport or use magic. The Kunie clan are said to, by Regan, be the inheritors of magical technology- that sounds Alv to me.
Then at the private meeting at the village/snow house, Kinjou said that "our ancestors would never have imagined this meeting to occur" or something to that affect. He's definitely half-alv.
The fact that Regan had to dig deep into his library (with Nobugatsu?) there sleeping in a chair now means that 3 members of the LH guild now where his stuff is.
Was it me or did Shiroe & Regan look "older" in this new episode.

I am skipping over everything as I can only see the trailer until 11th however.

Thoughts on trailer and opening.

It seems the cast gets more chars the Bard starts up a band. Also it looks like there are raid bosses (and the vid died before it finished) But is that the fox neko surrounded by raid bosses?! It looks like him.... The Raid bosses from trailer seem highly significant.

The opening credits introduce a lot of new "characters". In the end there's the council side then a separate group- could they be Plant Hwyaden or another guild?
Shiroe's old leader from the DTP is a monk & is helping out with the LH guild.
There is a new female in LH guild. In a scene she's in the middle and all other guild members run out to do something, be it adventure, missions, etc. Does this mean that Shiroe is giving her the leadership of his guild?

That's all for now, awaiting responses.

I saw the opening and it looks like Kanie Clan are the bad guys of this season. The leader surrounded by raid bosses.. Hm maybe this clan is more powerful then any player guild. And I'm not sure Shiroe is a practical person he finally believes he made a guild he can stay in. Maybe he gets tired of being the boss though.

Am I the only one to think that the Ep. 2 opening sequence differed slightly from Ep. 1?

In what way different?
I'll need to go back n check them out
The trouble with the Log Horizon opening is that it gives you sneaky spoilers of what's to come, Season 1 for instance, Rudy dying, you know it's gonna happen but you don't know how or when (Log Horizon is not the only anime guilty of this)
I should've closed my eyes when the opening credits were playing!

I think the Ep. 2 opening was different in that it focused more on the episode than on the 1st Ep. (which was sort of generic, "hey!, This is Log Horizon!"

I feel like the Opening of an anime tells the general plot of it or if it changes season to season has lots of forshadowing. For example in Black Cat it shows Cat's lover in a pale light which after a few episodes shows she dies. So I feel if you pay attention the opening gives a ton of detail.

The 3 different openings for the openings of Season 2 have made if fluid & I think have given, like WolfShojo has said, lots of foreshadowing.
