I feel like one of the only people who actually watches anime for the plot.

A plot you can't even see.

All this hullabaloo about the censored vs non-censored and the screenshots I'm seeing on these pages (haven't tried it yet personally) makes me wonder... by pulling this kind of BS, do the studios in Japan ACTUALLY sell more BD copies? I know when I see censoring that's bad enough to make me miss actual chunks of the show, it just makes me stop watching it and buy the manga instead, not wait for the BD release and buy them. Because screw censorship. I'll just give to the original author instead.

And I'll mark this show as off my queue while I'm at it.

There isn't a point of even airing this show.. Literally.. any fight scene is a Gradient.. and screaming in the background.. How long do we have to wait till I can purchase a DVD version? I say screw it... Don't air till we can see the actual show..

And this is genuinely part of the problem in some shows. Although things like excessive gore and bare flesh have a tendency to be superfluous to the actual plot, this isn't always the case. But the censorship happens regardless.

The other thing is that the effects used can make a very big difference. Although personally disliked the censorhip of ImoChou (on principle), it still heavily implied exactly what as going on. In some cases spelling it out, literally, by VN-style on-screen text.

But glaring beams of light, unfeasible patches of shadow and fullscreen gradients run the very real risk of pulling people out of the show. So actually making it harder to engage with the plot.

In Japan it might well work. Bear in mind that, over there, I believe the BDs are coming out (a few episodes at a time) during the run of the show. Or, at the very least, comparitively shortly after the series ends its run.

They have the option of buying the BDs within a few months of the show airing. Those of us in other territories, though, are more likely to have to wait upwards of a year between a show legally streaming and and a legally-available translated home release.
In the meanwhile, some shows have the less-censored broadcasts. And the uncensored BDs, as mentioned before, follow before too long. And both of these lead to fansubs. because people want to watch uncensored without waiting a year or two to do so.

I know I avoid overly censored shows, and others do likelwise. And whether people grab a fansub or just avoid the show entirely, it loses views.

Can you please upload streams of the show in both censored and unsensored formats? It really puts a downer on the action scenes when none of it is visible, besides, attack on titan never got any censorship, and while I know that this show is more gruesome, it wouldn't take any extra effort to upload both censored and uncensored, and would take even less effort if the show wasn't censored in the first place.

when we actually lose some content to censorship because it was cut instead of censored then what do we do. Sacrificing story for the sake of censorship is not fair. We are adults here and i want to see all of what im paying for.

I don't understand why we have to see this show censored. This is an anime that is meant for older audience. If CR is worried about younger audience seeing the show then they should set an age verification before streaming the show.

I think it shows a lack of confidence in their product when the producers censor everything to bump BR sales.

:/ Maybe. To me it seems they are making intelligent business decisions that will earn the most profit. I'm unhappy about it but even I can tell it will work, just based on the amount of people on this and other comment threads stating they will not watch and instead buy the dvd and blu ray when available uncensored. I won't be buying diddly, instead just gonna watch as is and use my imagination.

CR wouldn't care if you saw all the blood and gore, it is simply what they get from the publisher.

This doesn't air on AT-X, so I doubt anyone will be able to even find uncensored raws or fansubs of it until the first disc is issued in Japan.
