Did you miss me whilst I was banned by the Flying Dutchmod? Except, his name isn't that cool.

Any who, I visited some people while I was banned, and was diagnosed as highly functioning Aspergers, which explains my severe lack of empathy but otherwise functional(if somewhat dulled) emotions. This makes me curious. Does anyone else here have Aspergers? Are you interested in it? Are you studying it? Why? Why? Why?

Discuss.

Well I think I might have Aspergers but haven't been diagnosed. My little brother has been diagnosed and pretty sure my dad has it too but he hasn't been diagnosed either.

For the lazy:

- Asperger syndrome
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger disorder (AD) or simply Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar, odd) use of language are frequently reported. The diagnosis of Asperger's was eliminated in the 2013 fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and replaced by a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder on a severity scale.

The syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, studied and described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy.

Yes, yes we do. A glorious, glorious train equipped with explosives.

Now granted it's probably a bad idea since someone's probably going to set them off by accident, but a little magic can solve that issue.

How many days ago were you diagnosed? And do you have any questions, at all? I was diagnosed three years ago, so I know a fair amount if you need anything.

By a doctor? Tuesday, so really recent.

My mother, however, has been telling me that for years.

Kind of. Therapist did it.

Ahh. I can't remember the first few days after I first got diagnosed. @-@ It's kind of funny; My short term memory's usually horrible, but my long term's usually pretty good.

XD I don't believe my family saw it coming in the slightest. Had two other diagnosis that day too.

I sometimes feel like the rare anime fan who doesn't have Aspergers. It's really common, and I'm not even gonna pretend to know why.

XD Could be their obsession. Typically someone with Asperger's has an obsession or something that they really, really, really love or are interested in whether it be books, planes, cars, etc.

I think my main one would either be the internet or anime. More minor interests are video games and books.

I remember reading on someone who had Asperger's blog (or maybe it was a forum post) that one reason they really loved anime was because of all the exaggerated facial expressions. Those with Asperger's typically have some difficulty expressing emotions (whether it be verbally or physically).

It's also becoming more mainstream/common which makes it easier for us to find and get into. I first started watching anime either through 4kids' Saturday morning anime block or Toonami probably when I was 3, 4, or 5. May have been 6; I honestly have no clue. @-@
