How to diagnose aspergers? If you see someone seriously using ":3" online, they have it.

I'm not studying it. I've been taught a bit about it in college - class mentions and a good friend. I have no connections to do research on it - though if I were given an opportunity to do research on the genetics behind it then of course I'd take it.

To end ---- I remember one time I invited my friend with it to hang out and have fun. They politely turned my offer down saying they had a workshop where people with the syndrome get together to learn to be more social (forgive my wording - though that was probably their wording years ago). It always bothered me, not in a way that offended me.

They were good fun though. There are types of people like me that like a small part of anime. Then there was that person that would watch absolutely anything they started and he could always keep a conversation no matter what series I wanted to talk about.

I go in next week to figure out if I have it or a personality disorder (specifically, avoidant personality disorder). Basically, in large groups I lose bearing, hear everything happening at once, get a sensory overload, and want to crawl under the table. Beyond that, my empathy does weird things (I have it, it just does weird things), and I have difficulty maintaining appropriate attachments to my friends.

I was told I was diagnosed with Autism and others when I was maybe... 8? Not sure if Aspergers would be one of them.

Its a little strange having it or a disorder in general because you don't want to let it label or take control of you. You just know its there and there will be some situations where you will feel its there. Its mental so people won't see it. They might shrug it off and tell you are normal. Though, there are will be people who have studied, knowing a little bit to see the signs. Most mental problems are hard to talk and know because not everyone is going to understand.

The media often treats treats it a little different. Movies, shows will have them obviously portrayed rather show there are many types of people who do have Aspergers. I think that's why most of them like anime/manga so much. There have a few characters you feel have Aspergers, ADD, or general and having yourself rating yourself to them. I had a friend who related himself to N from pokemon. Since, N from pokemon is usually often talked about how he might have Aspergers and does show a few of the signs. Anyway, he said that he related to him from getting along with animals and having a bit of a hard time with people. Others who do have it tell me that as well. That's just what I think in all of this though. ;;

My getting banned and my visit to the Doctor have nothing to do with each other, so.....what? No empathy isn't the sole trait of Aspergers, and is a trait of several other mental illnesses. Maybe you have.....

Narcissistic Personality Disorder. No empathy? Check. Know-it-all attitude? Check.

I personally been diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD... both Mild.. But it does make me a interesting person to say the least with both...

1.... Can't maintain a clear Eye to eye contact without losing concentration on what I needed to say.... Hurts me in job interviews.

2. I do have weird habits... especially in the pass... (Loved to pull on my hands alot... ) (Weird right lol)

3. I have a problem of trying to get things out in which case it interrupts other people talking..

4... I have a problem of controlling my voice... My normal volume is rather loud in which I am constantly ask to lower it when I feel I am at the lowest I can be when whispering or talking in general.

5.) I have a hard time trying to type out what I try to say in words and alot of times they come out wrong or get puns on... I am better at trying to get what I need to say out in voice then in text.

And I think that's all I can remember of for my symptoms.

What I like to do is work on computers, play games.. MMORPGs as well... Even when my weak social skills I still love to try and help people with their problems if I can...

I have a Associates in Computer Electronics but still have a lot of difficulties trying to get a job that is in my field.

Ummm and I think that is all for now with Aspergers for me.

That is no longer accurate: Aspergers Syndrome is no longer on the autistic spectrum according to the updated DSM V (if you do not know, the DSM is an updated list of spectrums and mental disorders and their diagnosis used by all psychologists in all fields and is the most credible source for all spectrums and disorders according to the APA, or American Psychiatric Association)

Source: http://www.autism.com/news_dsmV

http://www.wm.edu/offices/deanofstudents/services/disabilityservices/resources/aspergersyndrome/index.php

(Look under the title "Proposed Changes to Autism Spectrum Disorders in the New DSM" in the article for the second link above regarding new DSM changes.)

However, there is no clear diagnosis for Aspergers as of right now, for it is still being debated by professionals. All I can tell you is it has been removed in the updated DSM V.

Well, seems accurate to the people actually having to work with these cases.
