IS's art style is unique? Looks pretty normal to me. I still think they're different shows. They maybe "the same vehicle with different coats of paint", however those two vehicles will have experiences and stories that will eventually differentiate them from each other.

They are the same characters with the same archtypes in the same settings with different colors.

Single guy in a girls only school about some bullshit fictional thing only girls can do. Except for the guy for no reason.

You have the fake second guy, the No-skillz just Sword hero, the Tsundere hurk, Childhood friend, loli, rich blonde.

The do not tell different stories, they do not differentiate.

They are both the same, and neither is old enough to claim originality.

Go watch Ranma 1/2, it's far better. Having more characters, more exploration, better comedy, better and more numerous fight scenes, and a fantastic dub job.
Additionally, the fictional elements tie in far better than these cost of paint works.

You've just proved my point. You haven't been paying attention to the story in Blade Dance at all. If you had, you would have known that Kamito is not the only male elementalist in history. Demon King Solomon was male and has been hinted that Kamito is his successor.

Or so the story tells us. Regardless of the shows in universe history, their is only one actual male elementalist within the show. The other is a fake, and we have no proof the Demon lord was not a woman nor a fake himself.

Hinted? The show beats us over the head with "you're the successor" line, an entire villain exists to declare he is the real successor over the hero.

Go watch Zero no Tsukaima as well, one part of it is up on CR, although its Season 4. Perhaps even Shana no Shakugan.

This is a weak attempt at copying marginally successful shows.

While this was not an example of an excellent show as someone who has read the novels

I suppose there's no changing your opinion over the matter, nor vice-versa. I think we both can agree that continuing this will more than likely result in us still thinking the exact same thing but with more time invested than was needed. With that being said, I suggest we just end this conversation here and go do something more constructive with our time.
