well happy late birthday!

Figures, wall scrolls and body pillows are the main otaku gear. Maybe get a cosplay costume for halloween or for a anime con.

A wool blanket and good quality foam padding underneath to nullify soil unevenness. Making a good first impression during an outing is very important.

I've got some manga and Light Novels and a cloth AoT wall scroll, and on an unrelated note, I somehow ended up with a Nendroid Superman Domo-kun.

Figures can run you up several hundred dollars. At least for figures of good quality.
So while you don't have a permanent income, I suggest you invest in posters, DVD's and other less expensive items.

I mainly collect the media itself so I would suggest getting Blu-rays/DVDs. Also, getting some visual novels would not hurt either, I just hope you are cool with 18+ material since most of them tend to have h-scenes.

Sometimes that kinda stuff can get pretty pricey, but it's worth it if you're a hardcore fan. I don't have the money now, but if I did, I'm sure I'd be heavily supplied with merch of all kinds; figurines, wall scrolls, t-shirts... Even DVD box sets. The future is bright.

Start putting together a Blu-ray/DVD collection of your favorite anime.

Hehehe.
You need Dramatical Murder, the game.

Body pillows, tissues for the feel tears, anime keychains, and scrolls of your favorite anime.

Dvd/blu-ray collection, Manga collection, these can be started fairly easily because some people sell sets for cheap.
Figures, posters, these can be acquired anywhere, too. But they may be more expensive, depending.
