Does anyone find them fascinating, or even practice them? Ever had a reading done before?

I had someone who had a deck let me pick my card from the major arcana. I picked the Tower. He was kinda freaked out, saying that it was the worst card to get as it symbolizes destruction.

The rest of the conversation -

Phersu - 'Destruction to me, or just people around me?'

Guy - 'Can be either.'

P - ' Well, I don't care if everyone around me is destroyed so long as I'm still okay.'

G - 'Yup. You're a Tower.'

Hehe.. Nice convo.. I wouldn't mind getting a reading, or learning to practice with Tarot.. I do have other forms of "divination" I practice.. But not the Tarot. If you get into more complex tarot work, I know it can get pretty interesting/deep.

I find them fascinating but I'm not sure if I actually believe in them. I got my reading done on some online ones before (if that counts) but I don't know if its the same. If not, then I want to do a real one LOL.

The Tower is one of my favorite cards next to the Moon. Both take on many meanings from illusion to destruction.

They all have negatives and positives to consider when keeping the question in mind. The tower is one to freak many out especially since of the way it looks with the crumbling structure, lightning, and the dark colors. It's main meaning if you go by the book is destruction but it's usually a destruction of a situation (bad relationship, bad habit, etc). It can also symbolize a personality of some sort if that was what the reading was about. The tower can also mean a fall out to lead on to something better.

Another card, the death card, is also one that many freak out on. Especially if a question is in regards to a person's outcome or situation. However, it does not always mean death but usually just means a dramatic change.

Tarot is kind of a hobby of mine. Currently I have a couple pagan friends (who practice tarot) teach me how to read cards. Currently have 3 decks hidden in my dresser. Do I believe in it? Eh I guess I somewhat do since I have an interest in it. I don't usually take the readings to heart because sometimes they are too bizarre to really believe (getting married, kids, and winning the lottery 3x in a row).

Most of my family believes that stuff is real, but our grandmother has forbidden us from practicing such things.
She calls it witchcraft.

It does also kind of depend on the ability of the reader though.. Depends on how deep you want to get about it though. Since I personally am into astrology, I can understand what you are saying about those cards.. Makes me think of the planets Saturn and pluto.. In the right circumstances, Saturn can seem limiting, or instead it can show mastery.. Pluto can be considered a dark, destructive planet, but can actually point towards the transmutation of dark to light, or powerful/good transformation through dark/unpleasant experiences.. (Not quite that simple with pluto though.. It is one of those planets that has a lot of depth in regards to transformation.. Kinda like one of the shamans of the planets.. It would be the planet of being reborn) Then again my attraction to pluto could be because my sun is in the house ruled by pluto(8th house), and it it opposite pluto in its own sign (Scorpio... I love Scorpios.. :D) Of course there is a lot more that goes into those two planets than what I listed/said but the things I listed were to show their polarities.. (sorry, I kind of side tracked with astrology lol)

In Mexico, tarot is something done only by witches.
Mexican witchcraft is fascinating because some witches openly state they worship the devil and others worship God. There are some that also worship death.
Look at the picture below and notice how statues of death are mixed with crucifixes.

Interesting..

Every state in Mexico has their own brand of witchcraft
The north is known for venerating death and Jesus Malverde. These two figures are considered the patrons of drug dealers and they're the ones you pray to if you need to traffic drugs to the USA.
Southern witchcraft is more about nature and spirits. My home state holds an annual witch festival where witches get together to worship Satan and show off their powers.
