I would like to ask you all a simple question: What is/are your favorite anime movie/movies?

I recently just purchased the Studio Ghibli 17 Movie Collection with Classics such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle In The Sky, etc. I would like to know what other have seen and what others believe to be noteworthy.

I'll start off with one of my all time favorites: Summer Wars

Please state the title! A picture is fine as well. Description is up to you.

All the Ghibli movies are incredible but my favorite of those is Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for a lot of reasons, even if Spirited Away or Castle in the Sky are technically "better" films...

As far as non Ghibli films, I was not a huge fan of Summer Wars, but Mamoru Hosoda's other works are incredible. Specifically,
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

And Wolf Children

Wolf Children was one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was just as good if not better than a Ghibli film. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Other favorites of mine include

the extremely trippy Paprika

and Perfect Blue

which was a fantastic psychological thriller.

Where did you purchase the Studio Ghibli Collection? That's a lot of movies.

I purchased it through Amazon, but many people on eBay had it up for sale as well. Pretty good prices too.

Princess Mononoke is my favorite anime movie. It takes the man vs nature theme and shows it in greys. Neither San nor Lady Eboshi were completely right or wrong.

I generally like Studio Ghibli movies. I also liked Summer Wars and Wolf Children.
And I liked the FMA movie as a conclusion for the 2003 anime.

5 Centimeters per Second is mine. It's absolutely gorgeous, and the final scene is extremely sad. I'm not that big into Slice of Life but this one is my favorite just for being so beautiful. The story isn't awful either, but it's nothing too special.

The dissappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is probably one of the best movies based on an anime ever, i got mindblown many times and i really enjoyed the movie, if i rated the anime a 6.5 or 7 out of 10, i rate the movie 10 out of 10

I have the Summer Wars BD sitting next to my player, but I haven't got around to it yet.

I liked Howl's Moving Castle a lot (I felt it did "sense of wonder" even better than Spirited Away did).

Ponyo was a little loose it terms of story, but I watched it on BD and damn. The animation was jaw-dropping.

I guess I'd have to say my favorite of the small number I've watched is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. 9/10, a great story and a great cap on the series.

I was thinking about watching that anime. Do you recommend just watching the movie instead, then?

you have to watch the anime because the movie is a continuation of the anime, i really rate the anime as a 7 at most but thats my opinion, man sometimes i think the anime was made for the purpose of introducing the movie

you have to watch the anime first, then the movie

Hal (Haru subbed) An Android becomes a surrogate as (experimental) therapy.

The Garden of Words. Must be experienced in high def. A younger brother wants to become a shoe designer. (Ok, that's really not the point of this...)

Ah thanks. I was thinking they were the same title but the anime is called The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya instead, I've just learned.

before you start the anime (if you are going to watch it), theres two ways of watching it, in chronological order and in broadcast order, one follows the story date by date, the other one the way it was broadcasted in tv and it was in a messed up way, skipping episodes, then going back to the first, etc.... (crunchyroll had the broadcast order), my recommendation is to watch it in a broadcast order because the finale has a greater impact, but ill leave it to you. you will find many forums regarding the topic and different opinions
