The dude obviously botted likes for himself and his 3 other videos are probably reuploads from other channels. It's not too difficult to spot the illegitimacy of this whole thing.

i noticed that after >_< what's weird is that i went by his voice. I thought he sounded... not to be rude but nerdy/not a scammy money snatcher lol.

Get a better pic of his face from that video and we'll post it on 4chan and tell them he said something about their moms.

Woooooh no i don't think that's him, it's him commenting on another video about playing "his" xbox"

so people still fall for scams in 2014?

no wonder they still keep sending me those marriage proposals to my email... "Hi I'm alecia and I want to get married"...

Maybe I would have believed the email if they said their name was Max.

You've never seen a youtube video where a youtuber gets a certain amount of subs and they do a giveaway?? I see it every day, this was just the first time i saw someone message me back.

I'd be really pissed if someone like this.....

ripped me off.

I've seen it. and I assume they give the things for free. you don't send something to them first.

but that person said he'll ship it on Friday. so wait for Friday, I guess... (unless that conversation is old)

Can't make you feel any better than anyone else here can, empathy is not something everybody appreciates.

Do know that you're not the first, and you're not alone.
(I think I'm seriously blowing this out of proportion for just scams .-.)

I may get flamed for this... but a college student raised in the computer generation cannot understand to not give out their address and not send people cash? Reminds me of people who post on facebook that they are going on vacation and their house will be empty with tons of pictures of the expensive stuff in their rooms and their address posted somewhere. $25 is not a lot and hopefully you learned a lesson and will pass it on. Amazon won't do anything about that gift card if you negotiated this over YouTube. If it was through Amazon email system you may have some case but he probably already spent it. Nothing you can do about it other than not repeat your mistake.

An xbox one is $500($400 without that stupid kinect). If he's asking to front for shipping, that should have rang some bells.

edit: should probably flag that video as well.

A giveaway is free. No matter what you win, it will be free. The fact that he ASKED you to pay for shipping was proof enough that it was a scam. I'm not trying to be rude but you're pretty gullible if you fell for that.

never EVER meet up with someone online at YOUR place. Meet up in a public place with lots of people.

stick with paypal or anothere service that protects consumers. If someone pushes you to use a gift card method because "they cant be asked to bother" then just let it go. I know it can be hard to get rid of the feeling of getting scammed, but eventually you will...followed by rare nights where it creeps back into your mind

I do a lot of transactions over dota2 items, and in the past tf2 items. So i have been witness to many a scam method. When doing transactions on the internet it is best to deal with someone that has a high amount of reputation within the scope of the community you are dealing in. Never underestimate how messed up people can be so as others have said "its a 25 dollar lesson."

Too true on the `never meeting up online at your house or somewhere not public` statement. I still remember hearing about the pro gamer, Phobos, getting shot and killed over a craigslist ps4 deal outside his house. Murdered by a 16 year old mother.

Always have to be careful of the redflags. If they ask for money up front for shipping an item then you probably shouldn't continue the conversation. If you are going to make any type of purchase online always use a method that can be disputed. I try to always use Paypal for not "Trusted" sites or persons. They have always been good for Items not received when using ebay for me.

On the note some where talking about meeting up with people from say craigslist. You have to be extra careful some people have even been followed to their homes after meeting someone in a public place. In some cases they have had a person break into your car while you are meeting up with them so they can try to use your insurance card info to find your home address. The world is a dangerous place these days to stay safe.
