I never imagined this would happen, but it's a great thing that's she's getting out there for exposure seeing how big she is in Japan.

Miku's voice bank really is not suited for English. The song itself is fine, it was just the vocals that were quite bad. It was in English and I would have understood more had she been singing clearly in Japanese.

Overall I'm happy to see this and as an introduction it wasn't such a bad performance. I only have one question. Does anyone watch Letterman anymore?

I've only heard a couple of Miku's other songs in English and they all were barely understandable, at least for me. I was hoping this would be better... not... WASN'T..... When I switched to "captions" there were only about three lines that kept repeating.... Whoever/whatever was doing captioning didn't understand it either.....The song sounded nice but.....

Letterman's comment about being on Willy Nelson's bus.... I thought it was funny but I'm not sure if I should have been laughing or not.

I wonder if more Americans are surprised by her petite figure than anything else?

I thought it was fun to watch though.

does this mean that once again I have to tell my parents that "Yes I watch anime and admire the culture, and yes I know what Miku is" ... They call me up whenever anime enters mainstream TV... kinda funny too.

Staying up past midnight was standard in my college days, but really hard now! I was curious to see how it would go, and thus stayed up past 12:30am to watch it at the very very end of the show. If the goal was to broaden Miku's appeal, even just a little bit, I doubt much was accomplished on that front. For those of us who know Miku, it was perhaps a decent enough showing (or not, looking at some of the comments above-- I couldn't really understand her singing at all either, despite it being apparently in English, and her voice came across to me as even more robotic than usual), but I'm thinking anyone who doesn't know Miku will just think "well, that was maybe slightly amusing," and then just forget about it and move on. I had hoped Dave would have interviewed Miku, or someone on her production team, or something like that-- allow those who don't know her to find out at little more about who she is. Oh well; what's done is done.

The main problem (IMO) with this song is that it's way too autotune sounding/techno (with the echo) making it not easy to listen to (americans in my opinion/experience don't take too kindly to absolute dependency on autotune (rebecca black))

Also, the other issue is the fact she sounds like a Japanese person just speaking English with an extremely heavy Japanese accent that isn't very easy to understand "Shear-ing a Wo-or-or-or-wold"

I have plenty of acquaintances and friends who are international students in college and many of them speak english very well without a heavy accent from their native country.

Also I'm not bashing her. I'm bashing this song that poorly represents her.

Poor song choice for the show

Still cool to see Miku in the mainstream, though.

Looking back, the appearance must have been set up last minute because the song could have been produced with perfect English, with zero accent if they wanted to. Also the stage setup was poor, the projection was behind rather than in front of the band and seemed out of scale. I think a case of the technology not quite yet caught up with the concept. In ten years it should be there but not now.

vocaloid hatsume miku sang on letterman.

she a computer generated singer. sampled from a real singer, then digitzied to sing.

in japanese, she sounds pretty good. in english, she sounds as bad as most japanese artist do.
all in all, a pretty good idea, tho i agree shes not quite ready yet. tho its real close.

damn it scientist, figure out how evolution works, i want a PANDORA system up and running.
