Ok i seem to notice that a majority of the people that have crunchyroll accounts are 18+ years old and i haven't anyone else that is my age (15) so like does everyone just make it out like they are older than they actually are, or do young people just not watch anime and don't know what they are missing out on?

When I was in high school I met a few people who also liked anime.
Most people think it's a weird nerd thing and don't understand the appeal of it.

Yeah I have a sixteen year old little brother who I've tried to get interested in anime but he says that it gives him a headache having to hear it in Japanese and having to read the subtitles. He would be ok if it were in English. I say the young people of today are too lazy.

Maybe it's because i live in a large city with 3 anime conventions a year and several comic and etc conventions, i know many younger kids than I (i'm only 15.) that are into anime. At my school I know tons of kids that are into anime as well.

Well some people like myself have watched Anime since they were young kids. I first got into Anime seriously knowing what it is at age 11 and i'd seen Anime before that but never knew it was from Japan since it was dubbed and on Saturday mornings.

Also Anime viewing goes beyond this site in Japan more kids than older people watch it as you would expect it's a niche in Japan for older people. I find most people on the site are mid to late teens up to early 20's. Few of us older folks around too XD.

If they don't its certainly attributed to ignorance. I think if they watched it enough they wouldn't go back to ordinary cartoons. Marketing and parental censoring has much to do with it, too.

Pretty sure plenty of people make out they're older than they are. As a younger kid it's a habit you get into since certain sites or products have age restrictions. I started to get into anime when I was about 9 years old, and only turned 18 this year. Though I don't think it helps that most anime that is aired overseas is aimed at little kids. For those who grow out of stuff like Pokemon, there isn't really anything left to introduce them stuff that might appeal to them more. More mature anime is very much one of those things you sort of have to find out exists by yourself. I know when I came across Hellsing Ultimate I thought 'Holy shit, there are cartoons that can do that!?'. Up until that point I thought that anime was just stuff like Yu Gi Oh and Dinosaur Hunter and the like.

I'd bet a lot of them use less-than-legal streaming sites because they don't know about CR, or they just won't wait a week and can't pay/parents won't pay for a subscription for them.
Or they just don't post on the forums as much?
Or they put a different age, like you suggested.
I don't know, there are plenty of reasons 18+ might be the majority on CR. I don't think it's because younger people don't watch anime as much, though.
