Oddly, I hear that in Japan, kids watch anime until they grow older. They then ditch anime for manga or something else.

I started watching anime after getting a taste of Akira(the movie) for the first time when I was
still 12 years old. Before that it had always been Tom&Jerry type crap all my life, after
watching Akira I couldn't believe "cartoons" were made like that. Kinda freaked me out
a little since I was young/"innocent" and the movie had blood gore and an almost rape.

That was also a very very long time ago. Some of you where not even born yet. We
used to trade VHS tapes with friends since it was one of the very few ways to actually
get to watch anime at all. So much better and easier to find anime now. Back then it
was like the DarkAges of anime in America compaired to now.

Honestly, I wouldn't know. But since there is still an anime club at my high school, I would assume that younger people like anime.

I'm thirteen and I know other kids who watch anime at my school. A lot of them watch Attack on Titan but the girls really like shojo manga and last year they were always talking about Ouran High School Host Club. I also know one girl who likes Kill la Kill.

I'm not that young anymore but I've been watching anime since Carcaptors, Digimon, Pokemon and the like was on wbkids.

No offense, but I doubt certain animes would be popular if younger people didn't watch them.

I only have a couple of friends my age that watch anime. But yeah I guess young-ish people like it considering I've been watching it for a long time.

I'm 14, and pretty much my whole Japanese class is comprised of otaku.
Most of them use Crunchyroll.

Err... I'm 14? But, I have some other friends around my age who watch anime. Other than that, not much that I know of.

Ok i seem to notice that a majority of the people that have crunchyroll accounts are 18+ years old and i haven't anyone else that is my age (15) so like does everyone just make it out like they are older than they actually are, or do young people just not watch anime and don't know what they are missing out on?

I'm fifteen and know a lot of people around my age who watch anime. Most don't have a Crunchyroll account that I know of. I am willing to bet some of the CR users lie about their age though.

I mean.. I watched pokemon and other shows like that before that age.. But the ages I listed as a guess were when I started watching lesser known titles..

I lived in Hong Kong and the perception of anime is quite similar to Japan's; its basically a given that younger people watch anime, and most older people do not. Doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of older anime fans in HK though.

I've watched anime for as long as I can remember. Stopped for a while when I was around 10-14 years old for no real reason, then got back into it. Most of my friends at school watched anime, a lot of my friends' friends watched anime, et cetera, and I studied at an international school.
