I don't think you can find anything you'd call exotic where I live. Sure some of the Vietnamese and Thai food restaurants will have a few oddball items on their menu, but that's usually just parts of a cow/pig/chicken that I normally wouldn't eat. Closest thing to "exotic" i'd say I have eaten is game animal food like deer, elk, boar, or alligator.

I went to one near where I live. I love it so much I eat there regularly. My favorite is the bulgogi and I love the batchan it comes with.

I've had frog legs before. I didn't like them, but I would be willing to try them again since someone I was with loved them and said the restaurant screwed up the dish.

The most exotic dishes I've ever had are some Asian foods. One is a Thai soup called tom yum gai. Here is one recipe of it to get an idea of what it is like.

My aunt learned how to make it, so I've had her version of it the most, and the best I've had of this soup is hers. Instead of water, she uses coconut milk as the base of the soup, but uses many of the same ingredients in that link. She doesn't make hers spicy, though. Very good soup; very unique flavor to it.

The other most exotic thing I've ever eaten was some pho, which is a type of Vietnamese soup (of which there are a variety of them). It also has a very unique flavor to its broth. I had a type of beef pho (sans things like tripe, etc.).

Another exotic thing I've had before is a falafel, which is mashed chickpeas and herbs and spices, formed into a ball or patty, and then deep fried. It was served on fresh made pita bread with onion, tomato, cucumber, and a tangy yogurt sauce made from scratch.

I've had some interesting foods abroad (Scandinavian moose, mmmm!), but I'm not adventurous enough to try exotic foods at local restaurants. If homemade food counts, maybe my homemade kimchi?

Where I live falafel isn't really considered exotic even though it's not indigenous to here. I've made my own sometimes too. It can be made from broad beans too. I've even tried a black eye peas version. It is delicious.

I suppose I could add the time when I ate deep fried baby eels and baby octopuses. I've had ostrich and kangaroo too but somehow didn't see that as exotic.

I see you are from the UK. No surprise falafels aren't too exotic for you, lots of Muslim immigrants in the UK.

One of the most exotic things I've ever eaten was escargot from a French restaurant. It was interesting. I ate that back in...2002. I don't know how I'd like it these days. I'd be willing to try it again. For those who don't know what it is...it is snails. Prepared with butter and herbs and seasoning.
