I am feeling so happy seeing Star Wars winning this battle. Star Wars is the best, by far.

I've enjoyed the Star Trek movies more than the Star Wars movies (can't stand George Lucas's directing style) but in terms of the universe they're set in, I prefer Star Wars.

If you're up for lighter fare which doesn't bog the audience down with the nuances and particulars of philosophy, politics, economics, and so on and places its primary focus on the action then Star Wars is the way to go. If you want something which is more inclined to dig into the particulars of why something ought or ought not happen, why something should or shouldn't be done, rather than simply diving in and showing things being done, Star Trek is the way to go.

Both are good entertainment as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes I don't want to be weighed down with heavy particulars and dilemmas, and sometimes I want to analyze things to death.

Star Trek because they focus on avoiding wars, it's about people, equality and fairness it focuses on humanity and discovery rather than destruction and war

It had FIRST interracial kiss on TV!!!!

Not a huge fan of either but at least I can say that I don't despise Star Trek. I do despise Star Wars and anything and everything related to it.

Why is there no option for both/can't decide?

I'm a both a Trekkie and a Star Wars geek - I grew up on both. (VHS, FTW)

That being said... I consider the series to be incomparable. They are entirely different types of sci-fi. Star Wars is definitely action-adventure based sci-fi (with an epic soundtrack, may I add), while Star Trek deals with politics, humanities and culture.

And while I'm at it... why does everyone neglect to include Stargate? That's another timeless sci fi series. Also, might I note, incomparable to the other two, but definitely somewhere between the two.

In the end, I'm going to vote for Star Trek, since my voting options are limited, mainly because I feel that over the years, I've gained more values and insight from watching Star Trek.

Given my lack of hopefulness in George Lucas selling off the rights to Star Wars to Disney ,which to me is reminiscent of the Terminator franchise going from Salvation (which was freshly envisioned imho but poorly received in the box office) to having an aged Schwarzenegger back.. ugh .. its the Leno screwing Conan effect, old-and-ready-for-retirement versus the "new blood" with the former winning, regardless of what really goes on or might go on behind-the-scenes. in any case the end of business can make you sick.

So ..that recent horrorific turn of events in SW moviedom makes it with my love of ST:TNG and DS:9 more easier to choose.
