I don't use microwaves anymore, but I think I had a couple of times back in the day.. I know I have left water boiling on the stove before (we have an electric stove.. Not gas) and forgotten about it.. Most of the times I get back to it before all the water boils out, but one time I left a pot on the stove to the point where all the water boiled out and ended up sitting there on the heat for at least and hour or two.. I pretty much destroyed that pot.. A piece on the bottom came off lol. Luckily I didn't end up starting some kind of fire lmao.

Yeah I get how you feel, when I first got into college my parents constantly reminded me to shut off the stove after making something, and for a while it was annoying, but eventually I understood that it is not a good idea to leave it on, as in your case

Some sort of instant yakisoba. It was the first time I bought it too, wondered how it would taste. Started it up in the microwave, a friend came over with a new fighter game to challenge me in. Gave up my spot after spending 45 minutes playing against everyone in the room, their determination to beat me as well as having fun playing a different fighting game. I couldn't remember why it was I felt so hungry, looked around for the instant yakisoba. Didn't find it, friend wanted to challenge me one last time. That's when I saw a silhouette in the dotted window of the microwave.

Not microwave but the stove.
I was cooking a small pizza for my sister, because she's very picky of her food and left the pizza in there for around an extra hour I was caught up in playing the Walking Dead Season 1 on my xbox and lost track of time, I threw away the pizza and made her another one. There were no witnesses

I've done that quite a few times with my instant ramen and a bag of popcorn but my brother is a different story. He had put a hot pocket in once for about 13 mins instead of 3. He thought it would be a good idea to have the pocket ready and waiting when he got out of the shower but rushed and didn't pay attention to the time instructions. By the time anyone in the house noticed it was taking too long for the thing to cook it was too late. The hot pocket had fused with the pouch and started a small fire with a thick wall of black smoke swirling around in the microwave. We had to open every door in the house and window and switch on all the fans for the smoke to clear but the smell lingered for about a week. Ended up having to buy a new microwave and we stopped buying hot pockets.

Once, when I was a little kid. it was popcorn. Thought it was set to 2 minutes, but it stayed in there for 20 minutes while I played outside.

No. Only because my microwave beeps every few minutes if not opened after the timer has gone off.

My mother once put a potato in a microwave and forgot it was in there. Until it exploded.

No I haven't. The thing in microwave is probably my only nourishment in the house, so forgetting about it is asking for death.
