My bro played it. It wasn't even five minutes and he already got spook. You know the scene where the character was hung upside down. Yea. So after releasing from that position you had to sneak behind the butcher and steal his keys to escape from the room. Well, he explored the area first and as soon as my bro saw the two chain saws hanging on the wall he was thrilled. He was going to murder the butcher. The thing was the saws were not removable but he was still insisting that he could. Then the butcher came by in surprise and beheaded him. My bro got shook so bad. Haha haha
every time you expect a butcher/murderer/monster is slow as hell as soon as you turn back and turn back again the butcher is right there next to you.

Have played this game. Not really scary in my opinion, but it's really fun!

Has weird logic though, like the fact that you can only use your knife when crouching and doing a sneak kill, but you can't just go around shanking people with the knife.

I'll play any horror/survival horror game that comes out (Aside from Daylight which I'm repeatedly told to steer clear of) and I loved The Evil Within. I would definitely say it was more disturbing than scary though. But I don't think anyone enjoyed the game as much as I did.

I haven't played it. Is it a atmospheric horror or one that relies on cheap jumpscares, like Five Nights at Freddy's?

I'd say atmospheric. I guess there are some jump scares, but nothing too crazy in my opinion (though everyone is different.)

Of course, if you're looking for atmospheric horror, Outlast and its Whistleblower DLC are definitely the way to go haha
