There's an 80% chance you won't watch an anime if the characters "look ugly"?

False. There is a 90% chance. But actually it all depends on the art style. I can deal with ugly characters, it is badly drawn characters I don't like.

Actually, there's a 100% chance. I literally only watch anime for the cute girls.

I used to only pick the ones with art that I liked, but I have become more open-minded about the anime I watch and manga I read. Now, I will still give it a chance if the plot summary attracts me enough. I have found quite a few with great artwork that I didn't like, and also ones with great stories but not-so-pretty characters.

I'm fine with ugly but there's a pretty good chance I'll drop an anime if there's a lot of this type of expression happening over and over and over again.

100% chance as I'm not a fan of looking at anything that I find "repulsive".

True. I usually decide to watch an anime because a certain character or two look interesting. There might've been a couple I started based on the premise alone... but I can't think of any right now.

Surprisingly enough, there are some people who would watch anime just because a character is attractive. Never mind the plot and all the other important stuff, the only thing that matters is the character's appearance.

I'm going with true.

It wouldn't matter if it was an action anime, but for slice of life and romantic comedies they gotta look like some type of nice xD

Sure, they're sure to have a nice personality

'Looks ugly,' is an awfully subjective term to use in a poll on animation styles. But I'll vote 'false' for what that's worth, and the answer stands whatever you actually meant by the phrase. 'Outdated?' I dunno, I liked VOTOMS after all. 'Aesthetically unappealing?' Kaiji and Akagi are still a good watch. 'Does not conform to my sexual preference?' Bit awkward to answer, but I yield to no one in my love of Hajime no Ippo despite a lack of interest in climbing into bed with a slab of beefcake.

I doubt that!

I'm a big fan of old animations such as PepperAnn, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, South Park etc. And none of those have "attractive" characters.

___

In other words, characters' attractiveness doesn't really matter to me, i'll watch it if the show has substance. (Ugh, I sound like one of those cheesy people who respond with I prefer personality over appearance... but it's the truth).

It definitely helps if it has some sexy girls or boys! But I would also watch an anime if it has a REALLY interesting, awesome, general plot with lots of superb action etc., and the characters aren't *TOO* ugly. I still voted yes tough, because chances of that are lower than 20% XD

Then again, I also llove shows like to love ru with lots of sexy girls/boys in a harem all of which get a ton of fanservice. Wet pantsu; visible big oppai, some funny accidental groping scenes D: All of those things make me happy :3

And luckily, most anime has at least some attractive characters so in practice this isn't much of a problem is it? I mean, I just wathced log horizon (25 eps) in 3 days, loved it, even tough it doesn't have any fanservice whatsoever but for the plot and such, but even that show satisfied this qiteria. the 'mage buy' was damn smexy, and even tough she wasn't specifically beautifull (and far too young anyway), I found Akatsuki super funny and kind of kawaii in a pet kind of way. XD
