This election arc's pacing feels slow tbh.

Also, I'm having mixed thoughts about Gel's motivations to run as prime minister. Apparently, he wants to abolish CROWDs. Hmm....

ep 5

previous red head bad guy has a point, gel is basically doing what the majority wants without thinking of possible repercussions, this can lead to some bad times, especially if the public suddenly decides that the gatchaman are a threat instead

To be fair, I think the Election Arc is where the series finally become interesting, and people started showing their fangs. Before then it was all happy happy. boring, conflict free life with a pretty meh antagonist. But the antagonist changed, and red head seems to know what the future holds...

Seems like a simple plot if they are setting up Gel to be bad guy with Crowds being good hope that isn't the case? I like premise for Gatchamans to protect the people like Super Heroes in comics books don't like them to be smart asses who hesistate

Oh, I'm liking season 2 a lot better than season 1. Didn't really care for any of the characters in season 1, but I put an asterisk besides Hajime because something about her felt fake (or maybe I should say he facade made it seem like there wasn't much there beyond the superficial) during season 1. Hajime is now my favorite character for this season and the discussion between Hajime, Rui, and Rizumu was a perfect example of how thought processes work in our own society; especially, calling Gel-chan the "master ape" and how dangerous he is. Reminds me a lot of the history I've read (and what I've experienced from becoming politically involved over the past 15 years) and philosophy when it comes to many topics such as individualism, liberty, and more specfic ideological names: Marxism, Communism, Socialism, Democracy, Republicanism, Capitalism, etc...

Jou's statement "Even if the means are wrong, this will achieve my justice" is problematic. That terrible concept "the ends justify the means."

Lastly, I've been curious (although I have my assumptions) why only two characters have had silver "feelings" above their head. Those characters being Hajime and Tsubasa's grandfather. Is it wisdom? rationality? calmness without clinging on to whatever is "hot" at the moment? Objective? (I'm repeating myself using different words but hopefully it makes sense). And at the end of the discussion you can tell Hajime got under Jou's skin with the sound he made before walking away from her. I was hoping Hajime would run against Gel-chan because that would have made for an interesting debate. However, I'm not disappointed in the end that she didn't run because it makes me wonder what she will do next. I have my opinions on what she might do, but she is the wildcard in this whole story.

Ep 5

Could Gel be a wolf in sheep's clothing or does he not realize the potential trouble he can cause by just reading the "flow" of the moment to make his decisions?

Why was Paipai taken in by the police again?

Maybe Bustymay (nickname for Hajime for this season because... you know...) color never changes because she is ever neutral or something. She doesn't let herself get caught up in anyone else's flow and stays independent. She is always herself even though I personally feel like she's an alien at times. This is evident from all the times she would speak her mind and went against the polices of the Gatchaman in the first season.

Episode 6

Heh, Crowds Prohibition...

This episode felt pretty realistic in a way although the pacing is sluggish. Although I don't trust Gel-chan, he does display some good model traits based on what he's doing around in public imo.

The arc itself is kind of going slow, but so did the first season if I remember correctly. Then shit got pretty real as the later episodes went along. A world united that lacks individuality, it's kind of scary sometimes how realistic gatchman crowds can be.

Though when it comes down to the plot it feels as if I'm not being shown everything, like all of this is just the surface of things to come. The foreshadowing was everywhere: the white bubbles, the conflict with Rui and crowds, Tsubasa's inability to transform and so on.

If there's one thing I've learned from the first season, its that the plot for gatchaman crowds is never as simple as it seems, I'm looking forward to what this season evolves into.

Yuru-jii knows, probably from personal experience, that when that train comes off the tracks Tsubasa is going to be put in a world of pain. That's why he wants her to leave Gel-chan and return home.

Exactly. He sees his grand daughter turning into the same sort of person that his brother was. And clearly, things didn't end well for him.

Hajime breathing at her own pace rather than everyone else's there towards the end was a nice touch. And Gel has noticed as well. He is definitely going to consider her an enemy later as she refuses to conform to his ideals.
